I was doing my first oil change last night. I had an open quart of oil tip over and spill a decent amount down into the area between the motor and the passenger side fender. It ran down several coolant lines, the frame rails, and onto the inside of the brakes. I've got most of it wiped up but I know there's going to be an oily film there that will collect dust/grime.

Any detailing gurus care to suggest a good way to clean up the oily film?

    Thanks!

Castrol Super Clean diluted with water in a spray bottle. It will still clean without scrubbing. Can use full strength too. Removes wax, so rinse without sprayer on hose and control the splashing.

I have a garden pump sprayer I keep filled with that mixture. Use it all the time. Even on the wheels on my Bee.

Read the bottle. If you dilute that stuff enough, you can clean your kitchen and wash your dishes with it :D

Thank you. I will pick some up on the way home. I see from the table that this stuff is very multi-purpose. Is this an Autozone item or more of a Wal-Mart item?

Both. Walmart sells the spray bottles and the gallon jugs. At my store you can find it right when you walk in the front door. Normally in auto section.

Can't remember where, but I also bought Rubbermaid 32oz spray bottles. They kick ass

I've always used some Gunk Engine Degreaser, or something similiar. It's cuts through the petroleum base, then a pressure washer on mild, then an air line to dry, then a drive to get everything hot and get rid of any excess water. Never had an issue with anything getting wet. Not smart to spray it directly into your alternator though.
