I bought a 2016 plum crazy hellcat about two weeks ago. After about 700 miles I notice a pronounce whine under the hood, where there seem to be none to very little at delivery. It sounds like a dry power steering pump. Anybody experience anything similar ? Any thoughts or constructive comments?

Not the supercharger now that you are past break-in is it?

Sorry for the late response, but I took my hellcat to the dealer (04-25-16) and was told that I needed a new supercharger. So far the experience has been OK, I'm told this is covered by the warranty and I've got the use of a Jeep Renegade (again covered). My testosterone level has dropped, but I'll get it back soon (I hope).

Just got my baby back today. I was told the whine was a bearing in the supercharger. Thank you Riverside Dodge for the excellent treatment during this issue. The warranty covered everything like grandma's night gown. As a side note, the dealer said that it was a $15000.00 factory replacement part. Ouch ! Anyway, I'm hoping for smooth sailing for the foreseeable future.

Glad your ride is back safe and sound. The supercharger is absolutely not a $15,000 part.

I can't even imagine they meant the parts+labor would have been $15,000.

I can't recall the exact number now, but I believe the entire motor is $15,000.

Glad you all are fixed and back on the road. Have to expect a few infant mortalities out of all the Hellcat superchargers produced.

Nice to hear dealer experience was a good one.

Install a CAI and (even if there is no improvement performance wise whatsoever, over the stock air box) you will be IN LOVE with the whine!

Negative. I saw the invoice for my new supercharger..it was over $12k. Don't forget they don't just replace the SC they replace intercooler lines, and all accessories etc. My service manager said it came in three boxes.

Agreed, mine was replaced 2 weeks ago and the dealer said it was a $12K job. I believe the parts counter cost of an entire engine is in the $21 - 22K range.

For about the last 500 miles my car has a new and pronounced separate high-pitched whine that is different than the normal supercharger sound
I am hoping it's just the supercharger breaking in, if it gets worse I guess we'll see
