Why is this an option and why would you choose it for one of these? It's not like it's a diesel even though the torque numbers are right there with one. I wouldn't think a gasoline engine would need a block heater unless it's in Antarctica or maybe Canada but have my doubts it would be needed there.

I would think it is easier on the engine to start it warm .and then you don't need to let it warm up to give it hell!

when really cold it is easier on the engine if it has a block heater.

Yea, it is cold here so IF I were to drive it in the winter I would have gotten it

This thing is straight from hell. Shouldn't it be warm enough already? It's very presence should melt ice and cause avalanches. How many people really bought one for winter excursions anyway? Most engines produce more dense power when cooler anyway. If the engine oil is heated though it will turn over easier. I still think it is a useless option for most.

Won't be driving mine in that much cold. But would be interesting, cold dense air charge is the up side and the down side would be lack of traction but thats always the case

I added it for this reason; on a bright sunny, but chilly day, if I decide to take the car out, the heater puts out warm air immediately.

Can it be left plugged in throughout winter storage?

My car has it being a Canadian car, although it isn't used while car is stored.
Why do that to a cylinder all winter??...
Now if you drove one in the winter I could see it being used.
I didn't ask for it , but all Canadian cars come standard with it

It should be standard in colder climate states such as Alaska. It's available for extra on the lower states.
