image.jpeg So here i am with my brand new cat, trying to be nice to it for the first 160 km, of course thats almost impossible, but I wasn't doing too bad. So this morning i let the Mrs take the car for groceries, she's a good driver and I want her to enjoy the car too. She gets back and has a nice grin on her face and asks "how fast have you gone?" Im like still breaking in the motor, 120km/hr thats it and your not even supposed to do that according to the manual. She is says "oops". I go check the top speed in the car. 180km/hr.
Oh well, ive always believed in well rounded, aggressive break in, just didn't expect the Mrs to be doing it.

The break-in isn't for the engine, but for the drivetrain. FCA said each engine is indepedently dyno'd for 40ish minutes. That allows fluids to coat and honestly 40 minutes of run time is long. Drivetrain on the other hand just gets filled up and the car maybe sees 4-5 miles on it tops till it hits your hands. Not good to just launch it without breaking the drivetrain.

That would not have worked in our case, the first car I bought her after we got married was a Audi S4 (twin turbo v6, m6). She got pretty good with the stick ;)

Engine and trans are fine. It's the diff that is an issue for the first 100-300 miles. Especially the first 100 Miles. When they say not over 55 MPH they mean it. The oil will overheat and trash the gears and you will get a whine. Sounds like little kids in the back seat.

I don't think she could have hurt it considering how many miles you had and the short drive she was taking........unless she went the long way

I would not worry about it. Accidentally got mine up over recommended speeds. Didn't hurt it a bit. Runs really good now. No whines or anything. You would really have to abuse it repeatedly to cause damage.
    Just my experience.

Yeah the car had around 180km on it before she drove it, I just thought it was funny that she pushed it faster than i had to this point.

    "Break in" LOL

I am about to hit 15,000 trouble-free miles and drove it like I stole it right out of the dealership with 2 miles on the clock. Sorry, I don't know how many kilometers that is

I have done this on every high performance car and motorcycle I have owned, and it has never once presented any issues. I also have no rear end whine.

The night I got mine, I ran it around for a bit then while playing with the dash settings I saw this...... IMG_0856.JPG Damn, didn't feel that fast, I like it! So much for break in, don't have the will power for it.

They are built for it. They cost a ton of money because of the research and development it took to design these cars from the very start. Chrysler realized they had a good mind and bumped prices.
I is hard to have a bad day and not let the rocket off the pad have some fun and let go.
