I have already bought my 3.09 were differential and it gets put in next week with my carbon fiber driveshaft. I figured I would ask everyone that has already put it in their car how they like it for a daily driver. I have drag radials on my car and would like to know is first gear still usable on the street, LOL? How is it all around for daily driving, performance driving and how is it for cruising on the highway at let's say 85 miles an hour? I daily drive my car, enjoy getting on it in the street and go to the dragstrip a couple of times a month.

I really like the 3.09...amazing how much more pep the car has at moderate throttle....at 80mph the tach shows about 1900 RPM....less than my 2013 nag 1 with stock 3.06 rear...very happy with this mod..

Great to hear. How is first gear on the street with the 3.09?

First gear is over with quick but nothing really noticeable. That is the great thing about 8 gears..

Agreed! Faster to 60 mph by a full second.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with this statement.

I could pull a 3.5 sec. 0-60 mph on the street with stock gears before my 3.09's went in on my 2016 A8 Challenger.

My best 0-60 on the street after installing the 3.09s is 3.5 seconds. Same 0-60 time running the same 305 drag radials.

I would guess at the track with a prepped surface, you may be able to knock a couple tenths off the 0-60.

Jefe's concern is one I expressed in another thread on 3.09s elsewhere. Not knocking doing it if you like, but I already think these cars are super delicate regarding launch and I'm not sure I want to make it any more touchy.

I think for weds night drag guys this 3.09 gear is the way. But for back roads and road racing, the 2.62 is the way so 1st gear, and especially 2nd is useful and not like driving with uncontrollable rear wheel throttle steer.

Honestly my opinion. Super good mod. I like the car a lot better now. These cars are really pointless without sticky tires anyway. I also have the opinion where I kinda think it spins less. I realize that may not make much sense, but with less gear it's gets spinning and keeps spinning, sorta like an over powered older car with 3.08 gears instead of 3.73s. Once it starts it stays in the longer powerband for more time. Cheers....

First gear is definitely useless on street tires... mine has a tendency to be in 5th by the time I let out of it.

I didn't care for my 3.09 mod. I liked the long legs of the 2.62.

I don't want to put the work in to swap it back, but, just liked the longer gears of the 2.62. Personal preference.

Looking to do rear end mod, but to make up for some of the loss I plan on raising my red-limit a little when I get it tuned. After looking at a few dyno's it seems the 6.2 pulls almost to 6500 with no problem.
