Whats the popular consensus on the first oil change mileage?

I just got back from a 1300 mile road trip (Cleveland, Ohio to Charlotte, NC and back), and took my Cat to the drag races last weekend. I'm at 3300 miles. Is that too soon for first oil change?

My first was at about 2000 miles.

Might be interesting to see if they drain the oil cooler when changing your oil.

This will be your 1st oil change you say? I did mine @ 500 miles so you know what I think but on my wife VW diesel I did 10K miles because that is what VW paid for for 3 years. She trades every 3 years so who cares as it was done by the book.
Dodge says never exceed 6K miles or 6 months. Have you had it 6 months yet?
I get 4 free oil changes that must be used in 2 years. I put few miles on my cat so it will now be every 6 months not miles for me but I wanted that break-in out early and wanted to do the 1st one myself. I had $50 in it from Amazon and a hurt back... I feel better about it.

I'd say its mandatory to make them do it. My SRT tech knew nothing about it.

First @ 1899 miles (a little later than planned). Make shift ramps for the low profile, two panels, and 20 fastners of three different types (WTF were the FCA engineers thinking). Will do it again @ 5000 miles.

I keep hearing about 4 free oil changes but got nothing?

You should question that. I got my car in GA. Serviced in SC. Did not expect to get anything but dealer has given me the last 3 free. Said it was included no matter where you bought it.

The computerized algorithm that shows up on one of the performance screens suggested that I still had "55%" of oil life left when I changed the oil at about 2,700 miles. Can't hurt.
I also sent the oil off for analysis.
If this first oil doesn't have anything that looks threatening, I'll likely go with the computer for future oil changes. The FCA engineers probably have a better handle on how the engine predictably wears, and what the tolerances are for several types of driving scenarios - easy going highway commute/ daily drag racing and whatever style is in between.

Don't I wish, all free so far and better safe than sorry. Old habits are hard to break. Going to every 5k now.

I think its varies dealer to dealer. At signing, they mentioned one year free service which included an oil change. Mine, changed at 650 miles when I had the fuel rail replaced...was around the 6 month point.

    Sometimes they play nice
(Also..., I pointed out an error in their UConnect operators manual, and for my trouble, since I waited a month for an answer back, they offered a free oil change...told FCA the dealer has that covered....they came back and gave me the 4 year oil change package for FREE...it popped up on my owners site two days later).
