So I took my Cat to the local Friday night street drags to see how it would do. I put on a set of Nitto 555's (305's) but I could not get these to hook up at all.

I made 4 runs. Best time was my first at 11.7 @119 mph with a 1.87 60" (tires were at 32 psi). The other 3 runs were horrid 60' times since I was just spinning.

I dropped tire pressure to 20 psi and it seemed worse (as far as spinning). I thought I gave them plenty of time in the burnout.

I turned off traction control, and ran in sport mode. I know the track prep was bad, at least I heard lots of grumbling about that from others, plus it was 100* out.

So what am I doing wrong?

How long was your burnout? Needs to be at least 5 seconds from what I've heard for Nittos. 20 psi is right. For grins did you try street mode to check 60 foot?

It was probably 3 seconds I think. I did try street mode, seemed to shift better but still spun.

There was a '15 c7 Vette running 11.4's, but never got a chance to line up against him. A couple '15 GTR's there too, running 10.8's.

I have the same tires and they need a John Force burnout 3 seconds is not nearly enough. Pressure at 18 and the track prep needs to be good. I ran 10.8 at 126 mph with them.

congrats...you did .1 better than me on the first try...im assuming a A8?

i had no issues with grip....stop flooring it....ease it down more.....my first run was 11.8 , but i got a higher mph than you......i also have the same tires and did not do long enough burnouts....also left tc on

i think you should be thrilled with 11.7!! and if you have a M6 i REALLY think your doing good!

Are the Nittos different than the BFG Drs? Normally a DR needs a shorter burount to clean them off and slightly heat. Over heating leads to small balls of rubber pilling on the surface which can act like little greasy ball bearings. On my other brand car with DRs I do a 2nd gear 2sec burnout at 4000rpm shifting to 3rd (auto) then letting the car rollout but not past the tree obviously. That car runs 10.25 @ 135 and hooks very nicely.

p.s. Edit - I also avoid a lot of water

Thanks huggy! I have the A8..

Funny though, several subsequent runs were around 11.9 with trap speed of 121 or 122.

I hoped to get one good run in and get close to a 10.xx time. Oh well, I had fun on my first trip out..

Anyone know how to get the little rubber chunks off my rear fenders now? LOL

When your new drag radial and wheels come in you gonna need to do about three little burn outs the correct way to measure which psi has biggest contact patch on your set up put spam on the whole rear fenders and you see you be cracking up but don't be shy spray a lot and rinse off don't don't don't let sit over night or you and wd40 or any oil product wit lots of massaging
