I picked up my car on Monday night, and have been driving it pretty much constantly since then (strictly following the break-in guidelines). I completed the break-in period on my way to work this morning. At lunch, I took it on the freeway and gave it the beans for the first time. Sweet mother of god. I knew it was going to be fast, but I have never experienced anything like that before. The acceleration is almost disorienting. I have to find a place where I can safely and legally get this thing to 150+. I can't wait to take it to the drag strip this spring, and get it at least to ~125mph. My previous car was around 500hp, and I had it for 9 years so I was very used to it. I didn't think the difference between 500 and 707hp would have been this significant. It's mind blowingly significant.

I had been patting myself on the back for how well I've been handling the fact that my car's delivery got pushed back a couple of weeks. Then I read OP's post... that whole zen state is gone, gone I tell you!

I forgot to add that the A8 transmission is SO good. There is seemingly no delay at all, between shifts. And it downshifts 3 or 4 gears almost instantaneously on the freeway. Absolutely awesome. I was originally torn between the two cars because I really wanted a stick. Now I definitely feel like I made the right decision to go with the Charger / A8.

I love a good stick but getting an A8 in the Hellcat was a no brainer for me.

Agree that the A8 is awesome, coming from two M6 cars. Highway acceleration is unreal. Punch it at 70 and you are at 100 by the time you look down. :)

so believe it or not...I'm a little scared of this car. Give me some reassurance.

I'm currently in an Audi RS5...about 460hp. If I punch it at highway speeds, it picks up speed in a hurry. I'm sure no where near as fast as a hellkitty...but lkike you said TSC, it only takes a few seconds to be in triple digits. That being said...I feel safe in it...it's AWD and the torque vectoring, etc makes me feel like it's hard to lose control of the car in a straight line or in turns when I decide to play.

I'm a little concerned that even at highway speeds, i may lose the backend of the hellcat. Did you guys chirp those rear tires when you floored it? Did you have to back off cause you felt like you may lose control of the car? Is my concern unfounded?

As with my audi, I'm not taking this thing from the dealership and running her like a bat out of hell...i'll take time to familiarize myself with her before I get crazy...but i do have a healthy respect for the amount of power in this beast and the kind of danger i could put myself in.

    Thoughts?

So I've seen a video (buddyg) that the A8 will break loose if you floor it around 45 mph to 50 mph. Did you have the same problem if you floored the throttle from a higher speed? Just wondering where that approximate point is where it won't break loose flooring it on the highway?

Of course I'm strictly speaking from a Challenger stand point. It may be different if you own a Charger.
