Not surprised. Some manufacturers will say anything to connect a modification to a failure. That guy is in for one hell of a fight. Even if he wins he loses having to pay for a lawyer. Sad state of affairs.

Not being familiar with what I catch can is, I am assuming it's something designed to keep rain water from infiltrating into the engine compartment through the hood vent system. Is this correct? If not please help.

Not surprising at all....It was only a matter of time.

The catch can clan will come to the rescue here in a few minutes and rage on about how this is all BS and reference Magnusson-Moss etc...Meanwhile, this poor dude has a broken car and no warranty. All for what...a tiny amount of oil vapor kept out of the PCV system.??????

Why load the gun for the manufacturers by installing a can during your warranty if you have no other "mods"?

    Tough lesson to learn.

"he gathered from the TAC notes was that the oil separator catch can was the problem."

"that I was the 4th case GM knew of that an oil separator catch can was a problem."

"DMA has said “the catch can caused the failure PERIOD”."

Nope, for oil vapor getting back into the intake tract from the pcv valve. Lots of info on them on this site.

How, oh how does the oil catch can "would make the engine starve for oil under certain circumstances".?.?.?.?!

I mean, I would have been to the damn oil pump QUICK even if I had to agree to pay the dealer to get to it. And busted them and had it out right at their dealer and I would not give a hell how "elite", protected or privileged they were.

Must be a remaining April fool. Is GM serious?

Exactly. It's like saying your car overheated and your battery was to blame. Doesn't matter. Once they connect a mod to a failure all rational thought goes out the window. He's SOL.

If he had a great tech like the one that works on my car at my dealer the tech would have removed the catch can before taking pictures....:)

The guy in the Camaro forum just needs to go sue to begin the legal process.

GM just did a big thing about warranty and ensuring the vehicle stays stock. They'll have to go back and read the fine print.

I don't think Camaro owners complain anymore than Challenger owners. If you have a issue with your vehicle you will grip.

The bottom line is if you have a engine problem remove all aftermarket performance equipment before you take it in for warranty service. A catch can can be removed and put back to stock rather easy.
