I will be picking up my new Hellcat the end of the week. Unfortunately to find a dealer that would take MSRP I ended up going out of state, as a matter of fact many states away. My drive to return home will be approximately 1,100 miles. I plan on taking it slow and following the break in procedures. Will probable drive about 9-10 hours over two days. Since this board has many experienced Hellcat owners, I was wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions for the drive home.

    Thanks

I would say look the car over real good, and take it easy going home, and follow the break in...Rob K picked his charger up and drove over 1000 miles home, he put painters tape over the front of the car to help with chips.

I did the fly and drive...600 miles all in one day. Sounds like you have a two day trip.

Take a friend, it's too good an experience to not take a good buddy to share with.
Break in sucks...at least the first 300 miles (got passed so many times)
ECO mode will be your friend during the first 300 miles
    Towels, cooler and painters tape
Take time to set up your default setting to something on the driveable side
Play with all the drive settings while breaking it in.

Once broken in, drive it like you stole it! (NOTE: Cooler weather means almost no traction out of All Season or Summer tires...they will break loose under WOT up to 70 mph)

Document and share with the forum

Oh almost forgot...clean change of shorts because the first time you to WOT it will all be worth it!

I like to seat the rings before I start the break in. Usually means doing a burnout out of the dealers parking lot. you gotta seat the rings!

    SEAT THE RINGS!!!!!

While during your ride home and break in miles, try to fluctuate your speed.

Acuda I set my rings good leaving the dealer.
I dropped the hammer 145mph with 4 miles on the speedo.
I ran it hard the way a new car break in should be.
I dont buy the break in BS myself.
Kinda like a bottle of Jack. You dont wait to break the seal.

That's a long way, but I'd mix in some back roads to get used to it tuning, stopping a accelerating. You'll be impressed with how well this car that only goes in a straight line handles.

Oddly enough I'm doing the same thing tomorrow. Will be driving roughly 1100 miles to FL. I bought painters tape and plasti dip for the front end. Other than that just follow the break in procedure and you'll be fine.

Keep an eye on oil. Mine drank a Quart during a 600 mile plus trip.

bought all 3 of my special cars out of state
my 2011 challenger was approx 150 miles away
my 2013 gt500 was 1,350 miles(took 1.5 days--flew to NH and got my car at 3pm, drove until 10pm-slept until 4am and was home by 6pm to WI)
my 2015 HC was 350 miles

you cant follow the 55 mph and under rule unless you take side streets or drive with the flashers on going 35 in the slow lane...not realistic

just keep shifting your transmission every 5-10 minutes....i took it easy and switched from 6,7,8th

when you get home do an oil change, buy dr's and get a clear bra

    then beat on your car.....enjoy!

I took my wife on the fly and drive. 600 mile drive home and did not follow break in. It's impossible not to just stand on it when you get some open road. The whine. The exhaust. It's too much. I averaged close to 70mph on the drive hour, raining almost the whole way.
