I am hoping someone will come up with a magnetic oil drain plug for this oil pan. I use one now from GM for a 383 stroker motor. You will be surprised the fine particles you see on this thing when you change the oil.

    Use a Dimple Plug -

    DRAINPLUGMAGNETS.COM

Dimple Oil Drain Plug Specs 14x1.5x25

Hellcat Oil Drain Plug Specs 14x1.5x20

The extra 5mm thread length on the Dimple plug should be a non issue...

(These are very good magnetic drain plugs speak from experience, stronger than most and correct magnet for heat range / application. But expensive...)

It's what I purchased will be going in mine at next oil change.

Back to this, trying to find thread and detailed information for oil cooler, transmission and rear end drain plugs. To source replacements with magnets. If anyone has the specs please let me know...

Oil cooler magnetic drain plugs 12x1.75x25 will be available in one month. (Also from Dimple owner getting a production run scheduled today.)

Here is a magnetic oil cooler plug that can work on Challenger Hellcats. NOTE- Total length of this magnetic plug is 21mm which = .83" The OE plug is 25.4mm which is 1" While this plug will work in the oil cooler, you sacrifice 4.4mm of thread length (17.6% of OE length) and if choose to use this magnetic plug, proper torque measurement would be critical; cautionary note there.

BUY HERE IF YOU KNOW YOUR PLUGS THREAD SIZE

Moving onto automatic transmission and rear differential plugs next...

This may work as a replacement for Challenger Hellcat rear differential drain plugs. Thread sizing / length is an exact match. A small raised ring around the rear diff drain plug housing may render this plug unusable, I will let you know.

I didn't measure when I just did my oil change but I highly doubt there is anywhere near 25mm of thread dept in the oil pan. The oil pan isn't 1" thick and I doubt the boss is 1" thick either.

I think the longer of the two plugs you posted is better (get the magnet further out where it can grab stuff easily), but the GM style with the seal in the head is preferable. The stock plug is like this vs. using a crush washer.'

Thanks for the research on the plug sizes. Are you confident in the size of the oil cooler drain plug?

I just had them both out but didn't think to check. The head (which I know means nothing) on the oil cooler drain was 15mm, the oil pan was 13mm. I was thinking the diameter was the same. Now I'm pissed at myself for not measuring diameter, length and thread pitch while I had them out!

Thanks TallCool1 DrBuick B5 Blue and anyone else that chimed in. I'll order up a valve and install next change. That's going to be a while since I just did one.
