My rear has started making a growling/groaning noise when turning. Before you respond to that statement let me clarify that my HELLCAT'S rearend is making the noise, not mine.

Anyone run into this? What was the issue?

Any ideas before I bring it in tomorrow AM?

It sounds like the plates in the LSD are knackered. But I don't know if the Hellcat runs a ZF type LSD

Normal, when we first received Linda's Charger I thought the same, sounded like driving over gravel when turning, now I don't even hear it.

Mine did at low speed (5mph)left hand turns. They put an additive in the rear end and that seemed to solve it , then two weeks after I had them put the 3.09 in .

Normal. It's the CF clutch plates rubbing together. It will work itself out. All my LSD vehicles had it, including my Shelby. I have 1200 miles now and she's silent. No need to add friction modifier as its already in the fluid specific to SRT's. I found that if you do some figure 8s in a parking lot it helps break them in.

    Thanks for everyone's input.

The car has 14k miles on it, so it should be broken in. The tech replaced the fluid and additive. The comment on the receipt is if it still does it, they will replace the rearend. I think I'll wait on that until its really doing something dramatic.

How do you like the 3.09? How much different does the car act?

I really need to get some good tires I'm still running the stock summer and have a major traction problem. It make the car seen to be a lot faster and quicker. Jungle Jim what do you think about the 309's

Seems to be a tad quicker. Will see when I can get it to Ohio Valley when they open.

I just bought my hellcat in April and have had it worked on at the dealership twice now. 1st time they drained rear differential fluid and refilled, but tech still noticed the sound. They went back in and completely replaced the rear end. That was last month. I have it back at the dealership now because the "grinding" or "rubbing" sound came back about 2 weeks after driving on the new rear end. They are again draining the differential fluid and refilling it. I'm set to pick it back up tomorrow. Chrysler apparently believes i'm "ragging" on it too much and causing the issues. Very frustrating!

A bunch of us have been all through this. I hate to say it but if you put 10 new differentials in they will probably all growl. High performance LSDs do that. The only cure is 4 ounces of friction modifier. It still amazes me how FCA will chase its tail and replace differentials for something with such a simple fix
