I took my car to my local dealer this morning to get the much advertised software update. While I was there they told me there was a radiator recall. Evidently there is a stress test they do to determine if the upper radiator hose barb will hold adequately and of course, mine failed. Fortunately they had a radiator in stock so they put me in a rental car (a freakin' Camaro of all things) and told me to come back at the end of the day. I really didn't want to leave it since I wasn't planning on leaving it and brought it down with the red key. I never leave home without the red key.... I don't even know where the black key is anyway. So, I come back at 6:00 PM to pick it up. All is well. Give them the crap car back and take the hellcat and leave for home. I got about 5 miles, the coolant temp went up to 220 and got a notification of low coolant level. CRAP!! Turned around, called the dealer and told them I was on my way back. Had to leave it overnight and they gave me the Crapmaro back. Double crap.

Waiting for service and the Crapmaro they gave me for a rental:

Ouch...did you at least put your HC in Valet mode, reset the top speed indicator, check the mileage and make sure the service mgr is all over it?;)

Can you refuse the recall service, the reason I ask is cause I don't have any issues, and if its not broke don't touch it...

I'm taking mine in for a oil change, That's it, I don't want the software updates, or fuel line recall... just change my oil.... And I will be watching you the entire time, help to know the GM at the dealer, Maybe I can pull it into service

I feel fortunate that my dealer lets me go back into the shop with mine and watch and talk to and question the tech the entire time. I never leave her side while she's in there. I've done it every time I took her in...oil change, fuel rail recall, radiator clamp recall, software updates, Supercharged badge installation...you name it, I was right there. IMG_2203.jpg

very good question, anyone know the answer? probably if you "refuse" the recall and something goes sideways later on with that part or system, the dealer may say you had the chance to get the repair done and refused it. so pony $$ up, just a guess.

I think you can refuse service, just tell them you can't do it right now due to time/job whatever.
However, I'd definitely keep an eye on that.

Make sure you take a look under the hood when you pick up your hellcat after they replace the radiator. I made the service manager top off the coolant on both coolant tanks. They were not filled to the full level. I bought some coolant at the dealership because I had to fill it twice. Now the coolant levels are normal and haven't changed.
