So I drive 3.5 hours. To see a B5 blue most beautiful car I've ever seen like wood getting beautiful, pardon my French. 12 miles on it..Msrp $65785 will sell for $64595. I said I'll take it. All paperwork done deposit check given, finance approved, detailer taking stickers off, showroom doors preparing to open and my nephew noticed something. Right it the center of the hood on the fattest part a 5 inch long crease not deep but there. I gat sick almost crying. So I walk outside couldn't look at the car without seeing it. The whole dealership including the owner are looking at it and admit it's there
At first they said they cannot see. So offer me $300. More off. I walked away. Right or wrong?

You were/would have been $1500 under, compare that to the cost of a replacement hood, to me, this is your answer. (I would go for the Black hood regardless of whether or not it was on there originally)

If the cost of the replacement hood was higher than your discount, balance that against how badly you wanted the car...

(This in contrast to my strict rule of never paying over sticker, but that just me, if you are ok with a small cost, then that's your answer again...)

I would have walked away, or had them fix the damage with s lifetime warranty on the repair. There's always another car.

They didn't offer to fix or replace the hood in addition to the $300 off?

This is a much better position than what I suggested, were they not agreeable to fixing it as a condition of sale???

There are more cats out there, I wouldn't stress on this too much, it only took me 6 weeks of serious effort and I found mine locally at sticker...

I agree with Bull move on to another one. If the dealership calls you trying to get you to buy it tell them $300 off and for them to replace the hood then and only then would I buy it.

perhaps go back tomorrow and suggest a reasonable solution that you can both agree with? i do not think a "we owe" from the dealer for the damage is unreasonable..

Why not consider putting a stripe on the car where the mark is?
If it looks like it would accent the car correctly, only you and the dealer would know.
you don't say if it is an "outy" or an inny" crease.

And maybe make a deal on some future service to the car.

Just putting it out there for consideration.

    Matt

Did you take a picture of it?

I would have to see it to decide. Walking is probably the right way to go. Plenty of cars out there now.
