So I'm out on a date with Plain Jane and as I'm increasing throttle pressure and carving up some asphalt for dinner a mysterious scrapping noise begins, fades, stops and then begins again. A little further down the road and as the date gets hot and heavy, yep, there it is again. As most plain girls will eventually tell you, they are just happy to be on a date and a little thing like a scrapping undercarriage is not going to halt the party. So, being a gentleman we "partied on".

As with most dates of this ilk, the morning after is...well...the morning after. As good as she looked and performed in the evening's din, the vision before me in the stark light of day rounded my shoulders and depressed my posture, causing me to shake my head in denial bordering on disgust.

Plain Jane's undercarriage, forward of the steering box and immediately aft of the front splitter was resting on the ground where once it was elevated, voluptuous and frankly out of sight and out of mind. Damn. Did I ride her that hard?

This story is long enough and the thread is entitled "Happy Ending", so here it is. The super thick formed plastic that provides protection for front steering components and some aerodynamics simply had two, approximately 6mm bolts, decide to liberate themselves from the chassis. The result was airflow causing them it to droop and scrape on the pavement during aggressive driving. A quick trip to the mechanic, at no cost since it's under warranty, and Plain Jane was as comely as ever.

Next time your ride is up on the lift, grab a wrench and tighten anything that looks suspect and your morning after will be a guaranteed HAPPY ENDING.

It's a product of a couple of things, most notably extra strong coffee this morning and a way too early full bodied cigar (Man O' War Ruination)...I chuckled in its creation.

But its funny.....my take, the moral of the story is to make sure that on a date, that your date doesn't have a couple of screws loose or make sure your date's screw's are all tight and if not, might result in sagging and abnormal noises in the future...LOL

Okay okay now that I have the metaphors straightened out and my train of thought is on the right track and not just spinning it's wheels at the station. How many miles does Plain Jane have on the clock? I'm still going to check it out but just curious.

There's an old song that has a line, "to much time on my hands". I think it's appropriate in this instance. ;)
