The email had a link, I was not going to click it to find out. If admins lost access to the site, doesn't that suggest they gained root access or was access lost for an unrelated reason?

Please don't take this as me criticizing or tellling you how to do your job. just professional curiosity.

I stopped dup passwords long ago, not changing the unique thing again. If I start posting up real stupid stuff that don't sound right, like if I say I am dropping a turbo 4 into the Hellcat, you will know we are screwed.

Luckily, they didn't mess with me. There would have been all kinds of chaos if that happened. I'm a tad vindictive when my Hellcat, or anything related to it is compromised. :D I'm glad the Admins were able to get it resolved quickly.

Any chance Global mods have access to pull a backup of the database? If so an announcement needs to be put out to change all passwords.

I received the email yesterday and did not open it. Sent it to junk folder and blocked it.
Do we have to worry about any of our personal info that the site has for us?

Would be awesome if someone could write an app that loaded a virus back to spammers who posted bogus links :)

    Things have been shored. :)

The email was a broadcast, we checked the mail server logs. They tried to send out an email blast from the admin CP. The mail server failed and only sent out to a small percentage of the membership. These emails where mostly just annoying more than anything.

We did comb the site and the mail that was sent. Nothing malicious was actually done just a major irritation.

Changing passwords is never a bad Idea. This is simple preventative maintenance that is part of the reality of owning a device that will go on the internet.

I had one of the techs as well as the CTO of our company working on the issue last night. They confirmed the breach was not through the database so no one had root access but the folks in the office working here to lock out the issue.

The only info the site has in the adminCP that can be read in plain text that is not published on the site is your email address and DOB. No passwords are stored in plain text ever. This is why if someone asked me what their password is I cant tell them, I can only reset it.The email you got was not a result of them collecting your email, they posted a note to a function in the admin CP and hit SEND ALL.

Thank you to the Admins for their quick resolution of the issue. I hate the internet. Worst invention since the dawn of man. It will be the downfall of the modern world. And it all started with Bill Gates and his really bad bug filled ripped off software. Couldn't hack an IBM 370 mainframe back in the 1970's. OK, off to sharpen some pencils.
