Just wondering if anybody has done a cat delete similar to the mid muffler delete? Did the mid muffler delete yesterday now I'm thinking about doing a cat delete in the same manner. Cutting out the cats replacing the gap with a piece of 3 inch stainless steel tubing and of course welding in the bunges for the O2 sensor. I see so much conflicting information concerning long tube headers, some say that headers have no benefit at all. Spoke to the technician today that is going to dyno and tune my car and claims that headers have full benefit and has proof. My thinking is that the cats, no matter how good the flow is, have to be restrictive. So what I'm thinking is instead of investing to $1,700 on long tube headers to eliminate that cats is to do a cat delete simular to the mid muffler delete. Any thoughts on this, has anyone done this?

If you can do that and have the rear o2 shut off via tune your going to want to put your mid mufflers back on. It will be crazy

I will reinstall the O2 sensore. If it is too loud I will probably go with a Magnaflow

You might set a DTC removing the cats and just re attaching the 02 sensors.

Like I said if it gets too loud I would probably do the rear Muffler delete as well and install a nice set of Magnaflow

You need a tuner to turn rear o2 off or you will definitely get a cel.

That won't prevent a CEL. The computer is looking at the efficiency of the cat by comparing the upstream O2 sensor VS the downstream O2 sensor. No cat = CEL

That wont fix the CEL. You are going to a lot of trouble to just see 1-3hp. The OEM exhaust is hard to beat...if you just want louder I would just remove the mufflers or resonators...either one will give you loud and drone...Magnaflows on a HC?

Once you do a mid muffler delete you are already messing with the oem exhaust. I don't understand why you would go half a$$ on the exhaust spend the money and get it done right .once you take the stock exhaust off the car has a deeper sound .

My rear 02s on supercharged jeep with Stainless works hi flow cats throws a CEL. Can't get them turned off. I just drive with it. It throws 4 different codes, 2 for each side. I would advise against it. Makes inspection a pain

My technician informs me that the only benefit of a long tube header is it is absent of the catalytic converters therefore getting greater air flow for the mods that I am about to do. Given the fact that I am blessed to own a welding shop and am very knowledgeable of what I'm doing kind of removes that half a$$ equation from it. So instead of spending $2,000 for a set of stainless steel long tube headers for the purpose of a cat delete I can simply do a cat delete myself and end up with the same result as a long tube header. Once again It will have O2 censor bungs and it will get properly tuned with the addition of lower pulley and ECM swap. My technician tells me the long tube headers with the mods that I'm going to do it would be extremely helpful for the increase and boost that I will gain. So basically I'm creating my own long tube headers by doing the cat delete. I appreciate your thought and comment but I can promise you it will be top-notch and not half a$$.
