    Hey guys,

I'm shopping some American Iron. I have a Lambo Huracan as my special toy. Now I want something I an drive much more often and have fun with. I was originally shopping vintage Cougar, Camaro, Mustang, GTO etc and then building it with big block.

But then I started thinking about the modern muscle cars like Z06, Hellcat, Z28 etc. Here are my questions...

    1) Why did you buy a Hellcat

    2) What else have you owned - so I can understand your perspective/experience?

    3) What do you love/hate

    4) A key benefit of buying new vs a classic is obviously build quality and comfort. How is the build quality - does it rattle?

    1) Why did you buy a Hellcat - Wanted the fastest 4 door I could own it is my daily "Company Car"

    2) What else have you owned - so I can understand your perspective/experience? A lot of trucks... Performance wise several older mopars E and A bodies. Pure power wise a Twin Turbo Camaro; a Twin Turbo C6 Corvette; and SuperCharged Yukon Denali

    3) What do you love/hate - So far the ONLY thing I don't like (would not call it hate) is how easy my Sepie Interior gets dirty and the button for the Fuel Door is pretty cheap and installed cheaply it is after all a 25K car with a 50+K drivetrain.

    4) A key benefit of buying new vs a classic is obviously build quality and comfort. How is the build quality - does it rattle?' Amazingly solid and no rattles so far - 6K miles daily driving.

My only other concern is what daily driver in the future will I need to get to have this much fun. Nothing like racing Jap bikes and super cars with a 4 door Dodge...

Haha, agreed on getting spoiled. So speaking of racing bikes and supercars. Is the Hellcat limited due to tire size. Its stats don't come close to Z06 which is not as powerful albeit much lighter. Huracan runs 10.6 1/4 mile! So I imagine traction is the limiting factor.

Traction is your limiting factor at anything below 60 mph but once rolling down the highway it takes a rare car to leave you behind (and a lot of highway). A few of my old cars would easily beat my Hellcat in the 1/4 mile but due to gearing none of them topped out past 170. The pull of the Hellcat from 70 on has been the most addictive part for me.

I was finally able to do that on my car after 500 and OMG, at 140 (in Mexico) this thing was pulling like a freight train.

You must be racking up the miles commuting back and forth to Mexico!

    1) Why did you buy a Hellcat - I went in to buy a Dodge Dart and the salesmen convinced me that I needed the Hellcat. I guess I'm easily persuaded

    2) What else have you owned - Prius, Sonic, Kia Sorrento, Subaru Justy and a Yugo (pic of my Yugo below)

    3) What do you love/hate - I can't stand the fuel economy. My Prius was WAY better than the Hellcat even when I drive in ECO mode.

    4) Build quality - Sounds like I have a trunk full of nuts and bolts but the weight gives me more traction for winter driving.

    Hellcat= American Muscle (it's a beast)out of control

Zo6= American Finesse (a lot more tame)more controllable
    Both are extreme!!!!
    Only my 2cents!!lol

You guys are a rambunctious bunch! Did anyone consider Z/28? I'm assuming it handles better and feels more dare I say - sorted?

Also, did any of you consider buying a vintage Challenger for $25k then building with big block, suspension, steering etc to drive right?

I agree with the earlier post that from a roll at highway speed I am not afraid to run anybody in any car--anybody.. I ran down 2 guys on Ninja bikes last week in San Diego on I-8, they couldn't believe it when I rolled up on them at 130--I guarantee you they talked about it for days..

I have owned them all including exotics and the HellCat is actually the TopCat on the open road..

Lets not get ahead of ourselves... I seriously doubt a Hellcat would touch a Huracan or McLaren 650S from a roll. The Hellcat only has a little more power but a 1k more weight and is a rolling brick from an aerodynamics perspective. Pretty sure unless you mod it to 850-900hp it won't run these.

interesting--we said a roll... but if unlimited budgets is the thought process, I'll bring a P-51..

Yes I'm referring to a roll obviously as aerodynamics don't come into play in 0-60 and 1/4 mile. Never said the exotics offered ANYWHERE near the bang for buck much less mod mod potential.
