Just got a call from my dealer in Bellevue, WA. They just had a Hellcat delivered, the guy who ordered it got cold feet and the car is available. I turned it down because the one I ordered is being delivered next week.

It's gonna go fast. Bellevue Dodge (866) 483-4570

    Black, M6, leather.

Oh, and the back story. The guy came in and wanted to 'drive it around for a few hours before making up his mind'.

They laughed him out of the showroom.

My dealer, LOU FUSZ CDJ, let me test drive my Hellcat before I signed the papers. The wife and I took about an hour or so with it on highways and city streets. Thats not an unreasonable request.

Generally speaking, it isn't unreasonable. In this case the dealer did not want to end up with a 'new' Hellcat on the showroom floor with 100+ miles on it. They must have thought there was a high likelihood that the guy wouldn't pull the trigger after the little joyride.

With a Hellcat and the strict break-in requirements, if I were a dealer I would be very reluctant to let anyone test drive the thing. And if I were a buyer I would be very concerned about how those 100+ miles were driven.

That might put the dealer at ease as far as how the car is treated, but not any potential buyer that wonders how hard the car was driven during those miles. I know many wouldn't stress on how those miles are put on, but many would; the dealers know this. We all know how many posts have been on the forum with people worried about the dealership owner/employess abusing them before sale. And if you're gonna put it in valet mode, then just have him test drive any plain old Challenger off the lot rather than the Hellcat. I doubt that would appease him though as it won't give him the "test" experience he's wanting.

When I called about the one I got, I asked how many miles were on it and the sales guy didn't hesitate - he immediately said "4 miles; we don't let people test drive these kind of cars. It's in the showroom and locked. With something like this, you either know you want it or not." I said "ok" while thinking more along the lines of "good answer".
