October issue of Motor Trend compared the Hellcat to the ZL1 and one of their tests included dyno testing both.

Hellcat produced Max RWHP 635, Max Torque 591 lb-ft (this was the 8spd auto)

ZL1 came in at 472/482 repectively

At 15% drivetrain loss, that would put it at just over 730hp and 679tq....which means they underrated the car. That's a scary thought, but a good type of scare.

.....or the new 8spd auto causes less parasitic loss than the normal auto tranny.

Also, I did see a video clip of the SRT boss say that they did have to throttle down the engine a bit as it was first came in over 800 HP.

I heard the same...they had to detune it to meet emissions. Supposedly, there is a ton of power not even yet unleashed. Imagine when someone unlocks the ECU and people start throwing smaller pulleys on it?

    Good post OP!!~

Mustang SAE dynos never lie :)
Soon we will all know the real numbers !

I suspect via all the askew info out there Crank Hp is about 7????
The numbers seem right in that article I bawked at 669 at the tires cuz Im a show me guy ..Was that a Hennessey dyno facility( Big Drum number)??
I don't trust the magazines out there for many reasons reality is the company that buys the most ad spots get the best write ups.
The net has more accurate info now days we all found that out thru process here.
Cant wait to get the car up on a Mustang SAE dyno just miles from me info is all over the board on this car .

To clarify, in that article they used K&N's dyno. Later, with the same exact car they ran on UTI's dyno. It made 670 RWHP and 606 RWTQ. Better ambient temperature and a more appropriate gear used.

Either FCA has developed the most efficient drivetrain in the world, or it is definitely underrated at "707" HP. :)

We ran a Manual Hellcat Chally on our dyno: 621RWHP 637lb-ft, very smooth power, and the speed was about 131.

Friends of mine talked to the engine shop that "detuned" the Hellcat Hemi, they said it was well over 800 HP, and 707 was the "least amount they could get". They did some changes, took out some timing, but yeah... it is very capable of more than 707.

They took out some cam timing to detune it a little.
