I'm glad the price is that high, makes cloning fiscally irresponsible...

    That seems cheap. :)

The 5.8 Shelby Trinity engine is about $31k in the crate.

The Hellcat Engine in the General Mayhem - Roadkill Charger Car; mated to an 8-speed ZF Auto transmission. The large downside is the electronics.

Comparatively, GM runs the crate LT4 for ~$15000 and is more "retro-mod" friendly.

And here it is in a 1970s Camaro (Hot Rod Power Tour 2016 - Chevy Performance Booth); mated to a Tremec 6060 6-speed transmission with Hurst shifter. The car was a beauty.

    That Camaro is stunning!!!

Anyway, the reason GM and Ford motors are easier to acquire and work on, is scale. They have made more of them for longer and have a much larger aftermarket following. Hopefully, Mopar catches up a bit more in the coming years. But, it'll never be as strong as the other two.

Funny that the automatic is less, when the car with the automatic is 3K more

I've never heard of a "core charge" on a new crate engine... Something is wrong there.

There is such a large core charge for alot of reasons.
    Prevents and discourages warranty fraud

Prevents and discourages someone who isn't well financed from copying the platform.

You simply limit the chances for many things by setting the bar very high. To make it difficult to produce and build something Better.

Very smart of FCA to do so and maybe they should have set "that bar" even higher

Protecting your investment of all of those engineers, development team, SRT snd ultimately your livelihood as a company by simply being intelligent enough to know to do so.

It may cost a lot of money to copy or make one of our cars and even maintain our cars but you have to think your protecting your Investment is as simple as it gets

There is no core charge on any new crate engine... That information is wrong.
