For myself, I narrowed it down to either the Blackvue DR650GW or the Vantrue R2. I ultimately chose the Vantrue because I liked the wider resolution, and the ease of installation/removal. With the Vantrue the power cable plugs directly into the mount, as opposed to the Blackvue which plugs directly into the camera. Also I felt the Vantrue was a better value being $80 less. I leave mine visible, and am using the included 12v power adapter for now. I want to do a more permanent wiring installation so I can utilize the parking mode, but just haven't got around to it yet. For now I tucked the wire behind the headliner, routing it down the passenger side A pillar, behind the glove box, and out from under the console next to the plug. I did not have to remove anything to route the wire, just tucked it up under.

You can see the wire in the door jamb here, only place it is visible other than the camera and power outlet.

Here is the power outlet. The gray circle lights up blue when powered. I like the additional usb port so I can still charge my phone from it.

I placed it on the passenger side so it does not obstruct my view, works well there.

View from outside the car. I initially planned to remove it when I parked, but decided it would be fine leaving it up once I got it installed.

Only issue I have had with it is the suction cup has fallen twice, once because I originally had it over the sunscreen area, preventing a good seal. The other I assume was due to heat and a lack of good cleaning before installation. I cleaned the inside of the window real well and haven't had it come down since. That was roughly a month ago. Otherwise I have been extremely happy with it.

I did mine the same way. I just tucked the wire in behind all the weatherstrips/panels and plugged it into the power outlet. That way I can un install the whole deal in 5 minutes. The one I have is not available any more. It is not hidden, but if I ever have a crash etc, I plan on grabbing it and hiding it/keeping it safe from being confiscated etc.

Mine is just like Daedalus. I'm checking Dash Cam Talk for more ideas. It will be a lengthy research.
