754 miles and my baby in the shop.

Took the car out for a Sunday drive for lunch to Manassas, Virginia (70 miles round trip) and car was perfect. Let is sit for an hour before putting it away in the garage and it started up and sounded like a Singer sewing machine. I knew it was a rocker or lifter. Same thing next morning after letting is sit all night, so called road side assistance and had it hauled to the dealership.

Pulled the rocker covers and sure enough a collapsed lifter on cylinder number eight. They will tear it down further to check cam shaft, etc. Hopefully it all checks out and just a bad lifter with no further damage.

I had a similar issue on one of my SRTs but it cleared itself up before I could even get to dealership. I wasn't willing to risk continued driving and cause any further damage.

Changed it at 500 miles. It's not the oil, it's going to just be a bad lifter. I've had one or two go bad before, Z28, Chevy truck, and an SRT over a 30 year period. Happens, you just hope it's not so bad it's beating up a cam or causing other damage.

Thanks, it's all good. It's a supercharged scary fun car that I love to drive. I know they will fix it, FCA is doing everything right about addressing issues with these cars. A bad lifter is just a part of quality control and you have to appreciate all the little things that can go wrong with them.

Best of luck. Bad lifters were a common occurance with my Buick 455's due to lack of oiling when cam bearings got wiped out and blocked the oil feed holes. I still get a sick feeling when I think of all the money I threw into them. I feel your pain.

Dealer called, tear down reveals no additional issues, all good. Bad news is lifters are not available but apparently some system reports these requests and looks across nationwide for stock. Should know tomorrow how fast or slow the parts become available. Just glad this is pretty minor issue.

Good on you for the realistic attitude and keeping the brand faith.

Every issue I've ever had with my dodge vehicles no matter what the root cause, complex or simple, has been resolved through the help of a great service team which I always have respected and treated professionally.
