So this happened on my way back from the airport. They guy behind me was apparently distracted and hit me going 30-35. Pushed me into the car in front of me and so I have damage both front and rear on the passenger side. At least the quarters and bumpers will need to be replaced. Exhaust was bent in as well.

Praying no frame damage is done. If it is, I don't think I'm going to let them fix it. I had a car in the past with the frame repaired and it was never the same, less alone one with 700hp.

You guys agree? Anything else I should look out for?

Man that sucks sorry this happened to you. I would file a claim for diminished value as well.

I am thinking it looks superficial. Did the airbags go off? If not, I think you might have dodged a bullet. Find a body shop that has the equipment to check the frame in house. Good luck!

It is at the Chrysler collision center and they check the frame inhouse. Hoping it is only superficial stuff. Had a Honda van hit in the corner that I thought was superficial too but bent the frame. Fingers crossed not the case here.

Wow did the exhaust bend the rear differential fin from the impact?

So....how bad of shape is the other guy? Ive always told my gf if anybody ever rear-ends me, i will literally pull him out of his car and whoop his ass. Accidents happen, thankfully ive never been in 1 but there should never be an excuse for rear ending someone. Keep your distance and pay attention. I always tell her to keep a grand in cash for my bail money because ill be going to jail.

I say we sit the guy down and have a chat with him. Let him know the error of his ways. Ask him to pay more attention in the future. What do you think?

I'd bet that the insurance company totals that Hellcat; chassis damage. Insurance nightmare.

I disagree with your assessment on frame damage. Frame damage can absolutely, 100%, be fixed, up to a point. And if done right, you'd never know. The pictures aren't conducive to seeing whether frame rails have been tweaked or not.

Also disagree with the above, the 'cat won't be totaled. It's not an "insurance nightmare" it's merely an extra step in repair. I guarantee it won't be totaled....

Regardless, it sucks it happened. Hopefully whoever puts their mitts on it is competent and knowledgable. Good luck.

    1. Your car does not have a frame so frame damage isn't an issue.

    2. It is up to the insurance company to decide if it is a total or not. It is not your decision.

    3. In order for it to be a total loss the cost of repairs must be at least 70% of the vehicle's retail value.

    4. File a diminished value claim. If they have not given you information regarding that please ask the insurance company about it.

    5. If you really do not want it back then sell it when the repairs are done.

    6. Sorry that happened to your ride.

I feel your pain! From the pictures, it does not appear that the front fenders or quarter panels are buckled. Hopefully that is good new as far as the unibody goes. I don't believe that these cars have an actual frame. Please keep us posted!
