My wife and I took the Hellcat on a road trip. Southeast Ohio to Ashville VA then onto Hilton Head SC for a few days. Traveled back home on Sunday. 1500 miles total, odometer now reads 2800 miles. Trip computer says MPG was nearly 23, old fashioned calculator put it at just under 20 MPG. Don't care. Ten hours on Sunday and my artificial hip never said a word. Several oohs and aaahhs, best one was toll booth on WV turnpike, " is that a Hellcat, beautiful, get on it (I did). Spent many miles at 85 mph. Very comfortable trip car.
Get out there and enjoy the road.

    Amen brother.
I love to go for cruises or simple ice cream trips with my family. Not only is it a time to be with your family, the bond formed over the years surrounding our hellcats is priceless

Gray thread idea and great avatar name

Outstanding road machine, really where it belongs:.700 hp plus 4000 plus pounds, a trunk big enough to put two dead bodies in,,,,all theNav, bells and whistles. It's an awesome highway machine. Just what I was looking for in the true spirit of a G.T.O.

Took my Charger from FL to VA and back in March. Cruise control was set on 77 both ways and mpg was 23.5. I had trouble getting out of rest areas because I had many people who wanted to look her over.

Difference is it is not reving at 3000 RPM at 70 MPH sounding like it is trying to explode like an old GTO would.

It is even good in torrential rain as rediculous downpour I got stuck in last weekend proves. Just go easy on the throttle.

Our first drive in our hellcat was Dallas Texas to just south of Tucson Arizona. 900 miles or so I think. We took turns and loved it. Such a very comfortable car.
I really like that it's not outrageous fast unless you want it to be... it can be so docile too.

Good Thread. I've saw some folks compare the Hellcat (Challenger and Charger) to Mustangs and Camaros and even Corvettes. There always seems to be some discussion about weather or not the Hellcats are "Muscle Cars" (as Dodge calls them) Super Cars or even Sports cars. I would call them a Muscle Car, in fact I'd call them "The Muscle Car" of all Muscle Cars. To be honest, these cars are pretty much in a class all their own or, more of a factory built "Grand Touring Car" so the GTO term may suffice. But these are modern day factory built Grand Touring or maybe, more accurately, a factory built "Pro Touring" car.

Regardless....Yes Great Road cars. That's were I think that they belong! On the road being driven and enjoyed.

In 1989 when the prototype for the Viper was on the cover of Road and Track I went insane. It was all I could think about for years and when the announced they were going into production I went nuts again. Unfortunately at nearly $80,000.00 it was just too far off my budget to get one. Fast forward 20 years and I start looking for used Vipers. When I finally got into one I realized at 52, 6' 1" and 275 lbs this just was not going to be the car for me. It hurt.
Then I looked at the hellcat. I took one out and the insanity came back (weird how that happens with cars, maybe it's a virus). With 707 HP instead of 500 HP, full warrantee and comfortable seats I wasn't settling, I was getting a better car! Now if I may make a request of the folks in the Brampton plant "Can you please hurry the heck up and build my car!".

Thinking about doing my MD to FL round tripper in the Charger this summer. I love driving this car and it makes the trip way more enjoyable.
