Just crossed the 500 mile point with my A8 Hellcat. I have had from day one a shimmy at approximately 80 Mph. My dealership sent a technician issue to Crysler, no response 1 month later. Second issue when driving slow I.e. Parking lot the car will sometimes violently down shift from 2nd to first I am assuming. The first time it happen I though someone hit me from the rear. Again has anyone had this happen to them?

first issue sounds like tire balance.....

not sure about the second issue.....try different drive modes? does it still happen.

If your trans is in track mode, it will feel like someone is bumping you, at least that's how it is in my car,, it's a A8

Second issue is common for me, when slowing down from 6th or 7th to 4th or 5th. Gives me a hard downshift.

Have the carrier bearing inspected on the driveshaft.

I thought there was an update to change the downshift to help soften it out?

What mode were you in? Street and Sport should be pretty tame, Track will be more aggressive by nature!

Tires are out of balance. My HC did the same thing. Had em rebalanced and good to go. Factory does a shit job of balancing.
Totally normal downshift. My 2015 SRT had that and my 16 HC has it. In default it doesnt do it. I drive in custom mode which has track trans selected and it does it almost every time. Feels like getting bumped in the rear bumper when slowing to a complete stop. Was told something about the converter locking up causing it in track mode. Guess it needs to do that. Put urs in default mode, no track trans selected. I'll bet it doesnt happen.
They really should warn buyers about it because i was freaked out when it first happened in my SRT. Now i know its normal.

Mine were unbalanced also....in fact I just had them road force balanced at a Goodyear shop and I was able to watch them do the whole process. I never had that shifting problem...
Did you have vibration of your steering wheel at around 75 MPH?

There is a TCM software update for that 2-1 downshift problem.

Back in April when my car was new, I had the same problem. The transmission shifted so hard from 2nd to 1st that the beast lurched forward... exactly what you do not want when creeping forward slowly into a parking spot.... or stopping for someone in a crosswalk... It got better over time as the TCM learning process took place, but it still thumped into 1st gear unexpectedly once in a while.

What griped me was that even though I called this problem into SRT Premium Care as a safety problem, I was not notified when the TCM software update was released. I also learned that Service Bulletins are not displayed on the Vehicle Health Report website for the car... and neither is the availability of PCM, TCM, or UCONNECT software updates. Only recalls and current "campaigns" (a campaign is a vehicle problem that is not a safety concern). Although, you can easily check for UCONNECT update availability with your VIN at the "driveuconnect" web site.

The TCM update was apparently released in June. I found out about earlier this month and had the dealer flash the TCM a couple of weeks ago. This definitely fixed the 2-1 shifting issues. The transmission did not seem to start over from scratch with regard the TCM learning evolution - which was great because I expected that to be the case.
