So I monitored my hellcats oil at 3k miles and the dip stick was filled, but i ticked 4k miles yesterday and all of a sudden my dipstick doesn't even register any oil.

    Steps taken

    1. Start car, let it run for a few minutes
    2. Turn off car, pull dipstick (Its covered with oil)
    3. Put dipstick back in after cleaning it off
    4. Pull dipstick out, nothing.

Should the dipstick be bone dry after a second pulling? My entire car history says no, i can't find anything in the manual stating the dipstick besides just checking oil levels itself.

Dropping it off in the dealer in the morning, This car gets driven hard (High triple speed digits reached multiple times). Will update you guys in the morning.

So you are saying that for the first 3K miles it burned no oil and then from 3-4K miles it burned what 2 Qts at least?

Did you add oil? I don't think I would want to drive it with the oil off the dipstick and therefore at a completely unknown level.

It's sitting in the garage until I call the dealer, Took photos and a video. I'm going to fill it before i go up there, but i need documentation for them and myself to show the engine is burning oil like a mad man.

It only takes 1 litre when the stick show nothing, I see the same thing but no evidence of excessive oil consumption or leakage except the dipstick, I'm keeping an eye on it every time I drive

I have 1078 miles on the odometer. Yesterday I checked the oil for the second time. Just barely touching the very bottom of the dipstick. Added one quart and brought it up to top of the xxxx. I'm driving it pretty hard right now, so not surprised. FWIW

Have had a similar experience. I added a quart...and keep an extra in the trunk. Keeping an eye on it.

As an aside, I am buying the oil from the dealer and having them put the oil in so that at least I have a record of it if this turns out to be a problem.

My 2008 did the same thing for the first 10k as well, then I started using a 10/40 oil instead of the 0/20 as recommended

I thought the oil recommendation for SRTs has always been 0W-40 not 0W-20?

Same thing here. I check my oil on a regular basis...always looked good. At 2800 miles I checked it again and stick was dry...nothing. Added a qt and it was back to normal. Took it in for its first oil changed later that day and tech said it is not uncommon for these engines to use a qt every 3-4K miles. No leaks or burning. If it gets excessive, an oil consumption test may be necessary. At $9.50 a qt/ the oil is not cheap. Using Penzoil synthetic 0-40 made for SRT motors.

LMFAO, brand new motor and it's common to just burn a qrt? I've owned 6.1's and 6.4's, none just magically sipped up oil like it was crack

Dealer gave me 2 quarters, that brought the dipstick to 3/4th full. So math wise it's burned about 2.25 quarts? That's crazy, No signs of oil leaking

I've checked the oil hot and left to stand for five minutes and stone cold. No difference on the stick so I always check mine cold. Hope you get it resolved and do not have any issues
