I have a plum crazy pearl hellcat with body color hood and would like to replace it with the satin black hood. Can anyone tell me if the actual satin black hood is any different than the factory body color hood?

All the hoods are the same. Go to your local vinyl wrap car shop and have them do a wrap for you. It will cost you a lot less than trying to replace the hood with a satin black one.

I think that your question has pretty much been answered in a few different posts here but to put it all together in one post.

ALL Challenger Hellcat hoods start out life as the exact same hood.

All Charger Hellcat hoods start out life as the exact same hood.

The body color is painted on the hood but instead of the clear coat being sprayed on the hood
like the rest of the car, a satin black paint is used. It's soft and very easy to damage.

I agree with the above post. If you want a black hood, get if wrapped. It's much cheaper than the factory option
or buying another hood plus if you ever want to go back to a body color hood, just remove the wrap. The wrap
also protects the factory paint so it's a win win for you.

    Enjoy the car!!!

All factory hellcats are aluminum. The black mate hoods weigh more for the fact they have more paint on them.

No experience with vinyl. I love big painted surfaces. If I didn't I would own a compact. So I bought a new hood and mirrors and had them painted. Wanted to keep my factory hood. 20160109_140027.jpg 20151230_162338.jpg
