Kinda makes me wonder if I should be looking at an automatic transmission vs. the 6-speed manual when ordering a Hellcat....

Hellcat still good as long as it catches up each gear or goes ahead. Automatic would of course make it easier

I think I could shift faster than the cat driver in that video. I accept that automatics will certainly shift quicker, but I still prefer the hands-on feel of a manual!

I agree completely; I'm getting my Hellcat for fun, and mainly street use, so I selected the six-speed. But if I was buying it mainly for track use, I'd have chosen the auto.

still dont know why you pay $65k for a 707 hp car and then buy the slow transmission if you care at all about racing.....and if you dont car about racing why get a $65k 707 hp car????

i never considered the m6 for this reason

Huggy, these are street legal. For most buyers, the car will be on public roads like 99% of the time, --you realize that?

yes i realize that....just like the video......a nice street illegal race at 150 mph down the freeway

no one wants to lose to a 5.0 sc......the video sure looks pretty close....and the M6 is most likely the cause

True. But, think how rarely a race will be so close that the difference in tranny makes the difference in who wins? I know I can shift faster than the guy in this video, I do so often, in my four-speed vette, so I suspect I'll shift even faster in a modern car like a Hellcat. VERY few street cars will hang with a cat, regardless of transmission choice, so to sacrifice a bit of the driving enjoyment realized like 99% of time, in an effort to gain a little advantage that other 1% of the time where you are racing against a truly worthy opponent is akin to driving a Prius all the time so that you don't wear out the tires in your hi-po 'show car', --questionable rationale in my honest opinion!
For those that like an automatic just as much as standard trans, then by all means they 'should' pick it; But for anybody that likes shifting, I cannot imagine it being worth sacrificing that element, unless you are buying your Hellcat as primarily a track-only vehicle.

Some of ol' guys know how to "bang gears"! Yep auto is great, and a little quicker to most drivers, but from what I heard that was NOT ANY BANGING QUICK SHIFTING going on there! Hell (c4t) I throw down better shifts in my 340 Duster!! There should not be that much loss of RPM from shift-to-shift. So 6 speeders, bang away! :D

Again, and another Hellcat driver that needs to practice, practice, practice! That was some terrible shifting ... too much loss of RPMs between gears. Slam 'em, and bang'em down boys and girls!! This aint no TESLA!!:D
