Mike and I am a Hellcat addict. It's been 1 minute since my last episode.

Seriously though I enjoy all things Mopar. Been lurking around here for several months and finally decided to join so I could partake in some of the interesting threads that I have come across. Little background on me is I grew up racing at Pomona during street legal events. Nothing pro, strictly grudge match stuff. Was never much into the Street Racing scene even at 16 yrs old but I would head out to the spot here in Ontario, California on occasion and spectate. Probably not the safest thing to do. I raced a lot in the early 2000's just about everywhere. Carlsbad, LACR and Fontana. I was disappointed when they shut down Carlsbad and even more so when LACR got shut down. Fontana getting shut down for a few years IMO was a good thing. They improved the track a lot. However I haven't had anything worth taking to the track in a number of years. I just spectate from time to time. I currently have a 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 440 in it and it's a runner. It's mild and very streetable so nothing crazy. Haven't taken it to the track in 6 years of ownership so not sure what it really runs but it will hang right with 6.4 guys. High 12's at 110 ish on street tires is my best guess.

Always wrenched on cars with my dad as a kid and took ROP Auto shop courses all through high school. I'm not a tuner or pro mechanic by any means but I work on my own stuff and do my own mods as I trust myself more than anyone else with my cars. We are a family of Mopars. I grew up with them and have always owned them. I was heavily into the mid-late 80's and early 90's turbo dodges. I've always loved the classic mopars and have had a few. My 2004 SRT-4 ran a best of 11.8@123 on 24.5"MT Slicks. I love racing at the track and would go to private track days quite frequently.

One last thing, hoping to get a Hellcat at some point before the run is up. Love the car and the few months I've been lurking on this forum makes me think I'll have a good time here.

    Welcome!

Since you were into the late 80's turbo Dodges do you remember the GLHS. Those were the 500 GLHT's that Shelby took and modified. My Challenger experience started in the fall of 2008 when I sold my GLHS (#088) to buy my 09 R/T

Welcome Mike. Your background would lead you to appreciate what Dodge has done here. Hope you are able to get one in the future.

I sure do! My buddy just sold his 85 GLH non turbo but yes we always drooled over the 86-87 Omni GLHS. I use to race a 1989 Plymouth Acclaim 2.5 Turbo non intercooled with 17psi and whoop on modded 5.0's and z28 camaros of the day. That was always hilarious! At that time a 13 second car was fairly fast. Didn't take much to put even the older turbo mopars into the 13's.

yeah and unfortunately traction was worse in that car than what you guys probably experience in your hellcats! I would spin the tires at 90mph on the freeway on stock tread. 15" steelies with DR's helped but FWD is seriously handicapped in the traction department.

To everyone else thanks for the warm welcome. Much appreciated!

Welcome! You ever get to Escondido for Crusin Grand? Every Friday March through Sept. I usually make it a couple times a month in the 70 Challenger, maybe a Hellcat by April!
