Hennessey Turns the 2014/2015 Camaro ZL1 into a Hellcat Hunter
The folks at Hennessey have rolled out their HPE750 package for the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, packing enough power for supercharged Camaro owners to go hunting for the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat – with 750 horsepower of Chevy power trumping the 707 offered by the big Dodge coupe.
The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is the quickest and most powerful Camaro of all time, but with “only” 580 horsepower, the ZL1 falls well short of the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Fortunately for those Camaro ZL1 owners who want to be able to outrun the Hellcat Challenger, the Hennessey Performance of Texas has rolled out their new HPE750 package for the Camaro ZL1. This upgrade package increases the output to 750 horsepower, which should be more than enough to keep up or beat the supercharged Challenger.

    The Hennessey HPE750 Camaro ZL1
The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is the most powerful GM muscle car ever with 580 horsepower from the supercharged 6.2L V8. The new Hennessey HPE750 package for the 2014 Camaro ZL1 features unique cylinder heads, a new induction system, a new camshaft, stainless steel headers, high flow catalytic convertors, a Hennessey supercharger pulley upgrade package, a larger intercooler, a revamped fuel system and a custom tune with dyno and road testing in addition to all of the items needed to safely install this components.

This package also comes with exterior badging, Hennessey branded floor mats and serialized dash and engine plaques for unique aesthetics which help this 750 horsepower package to stand out from the 2014 and 2015 Camaro ZL1 models with “only” 580 horsepower.

Hennessey HPE750 Camaro Versus the Hellcat Challenger
When you pit the new Hennessey HPE750 version of the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 against the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, the Camaro has the obvious advantage in pure power. We will have to wait for a real world run to see how the two would fare in a head to head race, but we can surmise that the Hennessey tuned Camaro is almost guaranteed to be faster than the Hellcat Challenger on a long run.

Hennessey previously used their HPE700 Camaro ZL1 package to go 203.9 miles per hour on a Texas toll road to test the new camera system while the Hellcat Challenger has a top speed of just 199 miles per hour. Based on the top speed of the HPE700 Camaro, there seems to be a reasonably good chance that the HPE750 ZL1 will outrun the blown Challenger on a long highway run. Also, with less weight and more power, the HPE750 Camaro should be able to turn out better quarter mile times than the Challenger, but that win will have to be claimed once the built Camaro has turned in official drag strip test times.

Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to locate the pricing on the Hennessey HPE750 package for the 2014 Camaro ZL1, but Im guessing that it will very quickly close the narrow price gap between a stock ZL1 and a stock Hellcat Challenger. Even though it is likely pretty expensive, this new Hennessey package solves the problem of racing a Hellcat Hemi Challenger with their Camaro without the fear of being beaten up.

And the ridiculously high price is?
Ah, yes...... If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Still not a "production car" now, is it?

I knew it wouldn't be long before some aftermarket tuner would try and counter the Hellcats thunder.

I actually find it flattering and not at all threatening.
They never labeled it a "Shelby Hunter", did they?
When you're on top of the mountain, everyone's aim is to take you down.

Exactly my point too. Hellcat is formidable because it's all factory no need to do any aftermarket tuner upgrades and it has warranty.
I would actually feel sorry for any guy who drops $25,000 or more just to be a wannabe hellcat on any Mustang or Camaro

Agreed. These aren't "Yenko Camaros". They're aftermarket - not by a specialized dealer (like Mr Norm's HEMIs).
I don't think these Camaros will garner much interest in the aftermarket - except by a few kids and fan-boys.

Check out this excerpt from a motor trend article. No more needs to be said. The Hellcat has it all including the street presence a real muscle car should have. Chevy can go play with transformers while we play with the sickest muscle car ever built. It's a pretty good article if you haven't read it.

Totally not the same bc it's all aftermarket. I can take any muscle or sports car and pump enough money into it and beat the numbers on the Hellcat, but that don't make it as good as this factory awesome Cat! Until Chevy or Ford produce a factory car like this, there's nothing to come close to the Hellcat's awesomeness!

#1. GM over estimates the horsepower Mopar under estimates
    #2. Its aftermarket not factory
#3. It will be nowhere near as reliable probably will need lots of extra care and attention
#4 will not be as good as investment since not from factory its an aftermartket custom rebuild.
#5 there will be an aftermarket " Tune" available for the Hellcat that will be plug and play and give you another 65-80 hp for nothing. I heard these were in the 800 HP range but did not meet EPA so they are detuned down to a low 707.
#6 who really cares about top speed???? where are you going to go over 150MPH????
