Hi, I'm in Las Cruces New Mexico. I own a green Hellcat and absolutely love the car. There are some concerns I wanted to see if other people were having that I am having. The differential has a high pitched whine at speeds around 60 mph under very slight loads.

Congrats on the car! R you sure its the differential and not the supercharger whine? However, there are some that have experienced diff whine.

Yes the dealer here has a great shop as decided that was the problem. They already replaced the diff. but it only changed the speed at which it whines at. I suspect it is a problem that is inherent to the hellcat. Has anyone changed the gear set to an aftermarket set with a different ratio? Like maybe a 3:20 or 3:40. Perhaps nobody makes a gear set for it yet?

Nope welded ring gear and no aftermarket parts out. If it can't be heard with radio on volume 10 I wouldn't worry

Thanks. The tunes have to be louder than that, but it happens only at certain speeds so I try to drive at other speeds, unfortunately due to traffic sometimes there is no choice. It's just a shame that such a fantastic car is built and they put a gear set that whines. I absolutely love driving the car. When the engine starts it makes me happy and smile.

    Great color.....

I would guess at 60 and light loads that will be the differential. Time to take it to the dealer. Mine is perfect but I have had similar issues with other cars.

Welcome and thanks for the introduction. Lots of great info here and there are some other threads regarding rear end issues. Check some of these out using the search window. Good luck and glad you're with us;)

Thanks. It took awhile to tape parts of the engine cover to paint the rest but it was worth it. I had the wheels powder coated as I didn't care for the black wheels and did the SRT emblems in red and put 305 M/Ts on the back and added the strips as I had a 1970 RT with them and it brings back memories. There is a lot of good info on the site. After the wheels were done the brake dust started to turn them black again and I saw the thread on brake pads. Mine should be here tomorrow. I have had the diff. whine and had it replaced. If you have a Cat, learn to live with it. Thanks.

I'm not going to lie,, that's probably the nicest sublime I have seen..did you powdercoat the wheels silver???. You did a great job on the coil covers, they match great...I know what kind of pain I had doing mine.... You will love the power stop brake pads, you will save so much time..here is a picture of my coil covers ,I did this right after I bought my car in the first of December,, first mod I did 2014121095221152.jpg 20141211_013038.jpg
