So a couple weeks ago I start smelling antifreeze after driving very short distances well within normal speed limits. (35-55mph ) . I can see the temperature gauge bounce slightly ; typically while stopped for a light. Gauge reads at 190-200 degrees. There is zero sign of lost antifreeze any where. This past weekend I move her out of the garage for a spin and find antifreeze ; 3-1 inch drops ; on the floor . I search under the hood and car while running ; nothing. I drive the car approximately 5 miles at 35-45 mph and start smelling it again . Stop at a light and watched the temperature climb to 224 before pulling away. Stop and find nothing . Once I begin moving again the temperature drops back to normal range in a couple miles.
Monday I go to the dealer for other recall items and of course bring up the temperature issue . I go to pick up the car and the tech says " I drove your 's and 2 others we just got in ; all 3 smell like antifreeze but nothing is leaking ". I've reported it and they say they've never heard of the issue or it hasn't been reported. I leave for home and 5 miles from the dealer; once again at a stoplight the temperature climbs to 222 until I move and repeats the same at each stop.......sooooo anyone else having or had the issue ????? OBVIOUSLY something is wrong and I'm not driving the car with 220 plus degree temps until it is resolved.

I had them pressure check my system and pull the bottom panel so you can see the hose to the water pump. That's where Dr. B found his leak.

A 220 degree thermostat seems pretty high. Has there been any thought of changing to a lower temperature thermostat?

The 220 is really bothering me. Also sitting still the temperature doesn't come down. So the fan must not be kicking on ???? Temp's only drop when you move. My 08 SRT fan came on moving or sitting . Even with a forged motor and a hot ass Kenne Bell sitting on it temps never got above 210 or so and quickly dropped when the fan kicked on.

Last Friday while out cruising my cat let loose pretty much all of its coolant. Had it towed to dealer and they replaced the water pump and thermostat. I too have been smelling anti freeze since she was new. I'm hoping to have no more problems. Maybe have them check around the water pump.

Stopped in the freeway for 45 minutes now right behind a major accident. Outside temp is 68 degrees and this is what my gauges read
