I was once shown how to reboot the computer by turning it off, and then when turning it on you hold down like 3 or 4 buttons while booting up.
My MacBook Pro has been running a touch slow over the past couple months and want to see if that reboot it will help.

    Thanks

If you recently upgraded to "El Capitan", that is probably the reason for the machine running slow.

Press power, hold the option key until you get to a screen that lets you select boot up drive.

Unless your talking about resetting NVRAM:

    1. Shut down your Mac.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R.
    3. Turn on your Mac.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound.
    5. Hold these keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time.
    6. Release the keys.

    3. throw macbook air out of said window
