How do I see the current gear on the instrument panel?

Like the title suggests I would like to be able to see which gear i'm driving at. I usually select the default mode and end up going back/forth between default and custom. Always on D (Full auto) as I hardly use manual or auto stick. Driving in LA is a PITA. Lol.

My paddle shifters are always set to "off" except when I choose the sport/track mode. I use the same configuration in my Challenger as well however I can see the current gear being displayed on the top right area in the instrument cluster. Slightly surprising as I don't see that in the charger. The charger has the same instrument panel display and set up, I suspect.

I have read the manual but could not zero in to the probable solution and therefore I would appreciate any help from this wonderful hellcat community over here. Cheers..!!!

My 2015 Charger HC shows the gear. Sorry, I can't tell you step by step how to display it but it is there. I am sure it can be turned on and off with one of the pages, sorry I don't remember the steps. Someone will chime in with the proper steps I am sure. Page through all the different pages and you may find it. Good luck.

I will tell you what's even more hilarious. I already had an A8 hellcat challenger and the Shelby mustang gt500 stick shift however I traded the Shelby for another a8 charger. :D:D

Thanks a ton for the response. Do I have to enable this in order to see it on the DID? The instrument panel only shows D (drive mode) lit up and not the corresponding gear. I want to view it through the instrument panel and not by going through the performance pages. I usually leave the 8.4 screen for radio or nav.

Thanks for the prompt response. I think I will have to spend some time on those performance pages and get more familiarized.

The gear will show up right beside the P R N D when you have it selected. This picture does not show the gear number as the car is in N. 12036753_687909678012293_1439328668938867430_n.jpg

I think this picture and what you are looking for are two totally different things.

Yes exactly. Thanks a lot for uploading the picture as this makes it easier to articulate the point.

Yes the corresponding gear on my challenger appears on that screen when it is on D and it is especially helpful when driving on a downhill gradient, wherein manual intervention is sometimes required as the gearing ratios are not always optimized or spot on for those situations

Thank you so much. I think that's it. I never really bothered about it initially but then I always wondered why the challenger displayed it from day 1.

Like I said at the beginning this is a wonderful and extremely helpful hellcat community. Hopefully this also helps someone else stuck in a similar situation.

Has anyone activated the feature to a light to come on when you should shift? What is it like?

I saw that feature as well and it would be great to know from someone who has used it. I think it is something to do with the rpm configuration and the light appears when you reach the rpm threshold, but I could be wrong.

Many thanks. very useful. I am pretty sure I only get the gear indicator when I switch to manual mode and not in full auto. Will try this tomorrow

I turned the transmission gear indication setting on about a month after I got my car as I was exploring all the settings. I think Dodge should have made this the default setting. It is nice to know what gear you are in, and the small number is pretty unobtrusive. It is pretty cool what you can do with the digital display. I also changed the top center to display the current time. It is handy when you drive with the touch screen off.
