How in the heck do you HC guys launch?

I took our 2015 Charger SRT out today to get the oil changed, but before I drove in the dealership, I found an empty space of road and tried a couple of very spirited 0-60 runs. The best I got was 4.9, expecting a mid 4 at the worst.

Even launching at 1000, I kept blowing the wheels off and scratched the run. The 4.9 was off idle easing on the throttle, and I was still laying all sorts of rubber. The car is a torque monster.

If I have these problems with 485 hp, how do you guys handle the street launch with 707 hp? To be honest, I can't imagine how you guys launch and if my car is a torque monster, I can't imagine what kind of torque monsters the HCs are.

Very carefully with warm tires. When they are cold they are useless from a dig.

Very slow depression (hardly anything at the beginning) and be sensitive to the noise the tires are making. WOT generally not until late 2 or even 3rd. Best I have on the street is 3.6 seconds to 60, 11.3 seconds 1/4 mile, all on the car's recorder. For some reason my car does everything better in Track mode, leaving the T/C alone.

But once you can hook at WOT she really presses forward. I can hardly remember, it has been in the garage since early November.

Yep, second that when the air and roads got cooler up here, before we put it away, this monster breaks them loose at ANY legal speed and then some. Be very careful. Well come to think about it 60-70 on a warm day is not that sticky either and can make you pucker if you just nail it suddenly!

Been struggling too. I wasn't fully broken in till October so it was a bit cooler outside.

I hear lots about drag radials but I'm confused because the difference from what I'm reading on he forum seems only slight. maybe .2 better.

Still cant understand how to get from 4.5 to under 4. If I wait to give it a lot of gas for a couple of seconds that's lost time, no?

If you can get under 4, consider the M6 mastered

Only car I've ever driven that from a 55mph cruise if floored will spin the rear tires. And that's here in FL with warm tires and roads.

I second the 2nd gear launch recommendation if you have an A8, even with a 6.4L if it's cold on street tires.

I have raced guys with DR's and we pulled almost the same times. If the DR's aren't warm they are even worse for traction in cold weather on the street.
