Not dumb at all ... it is a legitimate question. One that I cannot help you with, however, as I drove Dante home last December ... long before they started shipping the HellCats with the air splitter protectors. I am certain some of our other forum members will have the answer for you as the site traffic picks up after people get home for the evening.
    :)

2 push pins on the underside of them need to be removed.

The pins are double set. The center pin expands the bottom of the outer pin. Take a thin bladed screw driver and get under the head of the center pin and pry up. There may even be a slot in the outer pin head that allows a driver to get to the head of the center pin. Once the center pin is raised, the pressure lock is released on the main plastic rivet. It can then be pulled out of the hole. There are two pins per guard. Put these pins back in after removal as they hold the splitter on.

Has anyone considered painting them black and reinstalling them for added protection?

Have dealer do it. Whenever I am in doubt, I ask DrBuick and then if I still can't figure it out or think I will screw it up, I make the dealer do it!:D

Dealer was actually suppose to take them off. Unless your requested they were left on or had it shipped from the dealer to you instead of being picked up in person.

I told my dealer to leave mine on.....kind of an accent/highlight and, for extra splitter protection on the LA streets.

I got a screen cover for an iPad and cut it down to fit. I am very worried about scratches. I got a big scratch on the large screen in my 2012 Charger just cleaning it. Not taking chances with this baby.:)
