If you are willing to pay $5K over MSRP I found a dealer with cars in transit. He has delivered 10 already and is expecting several more allocations the next allocation cycle in March. There would be a good chance you would have a new car without waiting in BX hell.

I found this dealer searching for a car but am not willing to pay $5K over MSRP. I have no affiliation with this dealer but he spoke openly and honestly with me within minutes of my sending an inquiry. Not a form letter but a personal call directly from the fleet manager. Everything he said was in agreement with what I know about the ordering process and allocations.

The dealer is: Clay Cooley Dodge in Irving, TX.
I spoke with Chad Mackey and told him I would post here as there are still interested customers at $5K over MSRP.
His personal cell phone number is 214 686-1851.
If you wish tell him James Wrobbel sent you so he knows you found out through this forum.
Like many here I inquired with many dealers. He was the most honest and straight forward of all those who called or emailed with their form response.

I have an open order with another dealer in BX status and if there is no progress in March to a VIN I intend to cancel that order and place an order with Mr. Mackey. I liked his attitude that much.

    Good Luck !!

Actually he told me they initially sold some at $10K over and he sat down with the GM and they dropped to $5K over. He also agrees in time -perhaps even this summer - MSRP will be the normal selling price.

FWIW one dealer I talked to told me they bought Hellcats from another dealer at over MSRP, marked them up and sold every one. There are dealers selling at MSRP ( often with no allocation ) and those with cars in hand or in transit wanted from $3K - $20K extra from my experience talking to numerous dealers.

I will not pay over MSRP but clearly some want a Hellcat bad enough to pay the extra $5K. If my post helps them find a car - good for them.

I tried to deal with him yesterday on a Torred one, he wanted a $5000 non refundable deposit on it.

Interesting, did he offer to provide a copy of the Texas state law which says that is acceptable?

Does TX state law not allow for non-refundable deposits?

He sounds legit. I too have spoken with Chad several times. Said they were at 10K over a week or so ago and mgt decided to go to 5K. Could one possibly haggle to 2.5K over?

I don't know every state law, but I do know they are very far and few between. And considering I live in the money hole of MD and we don't have it, I'd be surprised if Texas did.

Thats what scared me off, the $5000 non-refundable deposit. I would think that not legal but what do I know lol

I only had to put down 1 k and no pressure to purchase. Walk away if I didn't like it when it finally showed up.

He did not say anything to me about a non refundable $5K deposit however I made it clear I would not pay over MSRP so the conversation changed direction perhaps before that fact was discussed. You might want to call him back and see if he will sell without that stipulation if $5K over MSRP is acceptable to you. He really did seem a reasonable man. That was the only reason I made this post.

I would not be surprised if in a few months when demand and supply are more in line he will be selling without a premium over MSRP.
