Well today was D-day. I traded my M6 in for an A8. Ill say this about my M6. It was a hell of a lot of fun to drive. The control over the car was great. However it was it's downfall too. Ever since the 1st test mules were out all I've heard is how wicked this car is. With the m6 I was like yeah its fast...it pulls hard...but it doesn't scare me. Well....the A8 is a different beast. Put 10k miles on my m6 and just got a new A8 today. Put on 400 miles so far in 1 day. Breaking it in right. I haven't unleashed it fully yet but what i have so far...yikes. im a 32 year old invincible male. Nothing scares me. This car is nuts. Kicking it down like i normally would with the m6, the auto snarled, growled, and ripped my soul from my body. It kicked out a little then punched me in the chest, spit in my face and called me a *****. I let off. What?!?!?! I let off. The power difference between the 2 is unfair. It really is. For you M6 owners out there if you know anyone with an A8 please drive it. I now have a new learning curve.

It slams gears hard I'm not used to that. Redminds me when a transmission clunks, but this doesn't clunk is slams you in and out of gears with authority

Glad you are enjoying the Auto.
Some people prefer the 6 speed.
You are a rare case that you have owned both.

You are just confirming that I am right to hold out for the A8.

    Thanks!

One of the issues in buying a hellcat is there are no cars to test before buying, for those on the fence about getting the most out of the cat the A8 will deliver everything you could want and more, glad to see the OP is now getting max enjoyment hope the trade was not to harsh.

The A8 is definitely different.... Because of the multiple, short gears of the A8, you are ALWAYS right in that powerband. With the M6, and the wider spread on the gears, it takes a lot of gear/clutch manipulation to get the revs just right.

I still say and will confirm, now that I have owned both, the M6 is a really fun car to drive, maybe a little more so than the A8. But, the A8 in "Track" mode is very impressive. Shifts hard, holds gears, downshifts just right, etc.... It is tailor made for those that want to point and shoot....and shoot it does. I passed the 500 mile mark last night, so I gave it a little go from a 30 roll.... Lets just say it scared the living sh*t out of the wife...

Ultimately, If I didnt have a dragstrip 20 minutes from the house, and wasnt suddenly addicted to racing like a crackhead, I would choose the M6 over the A8. But after my clutch fiasco, and the lure of consistent 10 sec timeslips being too much.... A8 for me!
