Patiently waiting on purchasing a Sublime HC Challenger to add to the garage... Planned to use it as a daily driver.

However, someone just inquired about buying my Viper recently. I'm not actively selling it and was planning to own it forever. However, I don't drive it much at all and have had some thoughts of getting into a Gen 5 after driving my friend's TA. I only put 8k miles on my GTS over the last 5 years.

I really enjoy the Viper Owner Association club and don't think I could live without a Viper due to the people, events and the passion of the members.

Soooo.... I'm thinking about buying a Gen 5 and passing on the HC if I decide to sell the Viper.

I'd love to own a Gen 5 Viper and a Hellcat, but that isn't realistic.

I know this is the HC forum, just wanted to get some insight from the members here.

They (the Viper club) won't let you stay? I belong to a local Corvette club (I have a '61); a guy recently had to sell his car (due to a personal circumstance over which he had less control that what yours sounds like) - his warm welcome in the club continues (and his dues are "taken care of").

I think you should hold off and get the viper with the supercharger

Tough choice. Two entirely different cars that happen to go really fast. The Viper not a daily driver in my opinion. Too bad you can't have both. Good luck in your decision making!

Watch this video about the viper, if you haven't seen it. It will make you want a new viper, it did me. If I didnt have some health issue's I would have bought a viper also.

No, you need to have a VIN to be a VOA member...it would be weird to show up at events without a Viper anyway.

The earlier Gen Vipers are not ideal for daily driving but the new ones are... I've driven a Gen 5 on 3 or 4 separate occasions. I daily drove Vettes for years (even the C4) so that isn't a concern.

There have been rumors of a SC'd Gen 5 for some time... But I'm not sure that is going to happen anytime soon.

I think it would be an easier decision if their wasn't all this uncertainty on when our orders will be available. There are a lot of great deals on Gen 5 cars. I've seen brand new 2013 track pack cars sell in the $70k range and brand new 2013 GTS models in the $80k range.

I guess I'll see how serious this buyer is for my Viper and decide from there.

    Thanks for the input...

It sounds like the Viper is a car you enjoy having to share with friends. It really depends on what is important to you. It sounds like you aren't going to race much, but you have this awesome group of friends. That is a lot to give up and sometimes worth more than the car. I hope you do what really means the most to you and makes you happy. Don't sell your Viper and then regret it later. I love my Hellcat, but it's a daily driver and it really is made to drive. It's really about what you want in a car. They are all quite different. Good luck! Tough choice. o_O

The community surrounding the Challenger, Charger and 300 is tremendous. I think, if you went with the Hellcat, you would get a very similar reception as that of the Viper community.

That being said, the GEN 5 Viper is really irresistible.

Good luck with your decision. I'd only recommend whichever one you think will put the largest smile on your face. For me, it's the Challenger Hellcat.

Personally, I would hold out for a Hellcat, because it is faster, and I prefer having a trunk. One thing is certain, however, you cannot lose with either car! Do what you feel is right for you!

IMO....keep the viper and get the Hellcat. In a couple years sell your current viper and get a new one
