Here in Ohio my cars won't see the roads for a couple months. During storage I like to spin the engine every month or so. This moves the rockers so the same valve springs aren't compressed all winter and spins the oil pump to get some lube up. Problem with these new cars, they start up the minute you hit the key and a short run only puts moisture in the motor and exhaust. Also a cold start adds wear on internals waiting on oil pressure.

With the Viper I have pulled the fuel pump fuse which worked fine. On the Hellcat it's fuse 26 (30 amp) in the trunk. Pull it spin the motor without starting.

Also read the owners manual on how to get the car in neutral without starting in case you need to push it around. Pull the cup holder next to shifter. Find the red tether strap attached to the lever, trip the clip on the right side of lever and use the red tether to pull up to unlock. I think all this info is on page 194 in manual.

I thought it was more about heat and spring compression cycles that wore them. I've seen older V8 motors that were sitting in storage for 10-20 years and after a few small gaskets and other things they fired right up and tested compression and leak downs equally. But who knows with what they're making stuff out of these days, lol. You think it would be better but since we already lost a rocker arm, I'm discouraged.

I have started mine once/week since I parked it. I also put dryer sheets in the trunk and in the car. this supposed to deter mice. It also make the car smell spring fresh! ;) (seriously I do put the dryer sheets in)

You need to put the visors down also, mice use them to camp out.

No reason to pull the fuse. If you push the accelerator pedal to the floor then hit the start button it will crank the engine without starting.

i start my cars 1-2x a winter and let them run for 30 minutes to get all the moisture out of the exhaust

many people do nothing....just let it sit for 4-5 months

i really dont think any of it matters

i think some of you are over thinking

i keep mine in a heated garage, but i still put a plastic moisture barrier on the floor under the car
