Greetings Hellcat lovers. New here. Just watched the video about 7 rules, (lol) A couple questions. He stated need wider rear tires, but didn't say how wide the Charger will take ?? without rubbing when folks in the back seat. Also do I just want a wide street tire, or should I go to a drag radial ??

Also it stated that apparently you can dial down the power with the RED key, but you can't dial up the power with the black key. WHY would you EVER want to dial power down in the first place...? is it better on the motor ? better mileage ?

Any advice from folks that know or have experience would be appreciated , thank you.

You can dial back the HP with the red key - try dialing it back to 500HP and you will know why all black keys end up at the back of a kitchen drawer:cool:

Dial down the power if you ever have to hand the car over to a valet. However, not too many would be willing to hand their Hellcat's over to a valet in the first place.

With the red key, you can accomplish this by going into valet mode and punching in a code of your choice....with the black key, the car goes into valet mode automatically.

It has been said by many on the forum that If you go to a drag radial, seriously consider upgrading your drive shaft first. Reason being....with greater traction and hard launches, you run the risk of grenading your stock drive shaft.

Ditto what the other guys are saying... then check out valet mode where you limit the car to 1st and 2nd gear, no paddle shifters and only 200hp... so I heard.

You mention 7 rule video... dang, been on the boards for over a year and I am just now hearing about that. Please enlighten and share the link before I have to look it up!

This is inaccurate. Valet mode is a completely different thing than the 500HP mode or Black key.
Valet mode can be turned on with either key and severely limits the car to only parking lots speeds..

Many people get confused thinking the black key = valet mode. Just want to clear the air for the inexperienced.

Ok cjohn7, if yer traveling down the hi-way in 500HP/Black key mode, and lets say one of those pesky Z06 thingys pulls up
and wants to have a contest of acceleration. How do you switch to full 707HP Red key mode on the move ?
Do you have to stop, shut off the engine, then re start with the red key ?

Also guys, this "launch control" they speak of, is that Dodge's name for a factory installed Trans-break??

If it's wet or below 40 degrees out it goes to 500 hp. Way to easy to get twisted up. I have found that to work for calming the nerves when it's slick out. And you can stuff a 305 back there with no rubbing.
