I had it happen 2x's and that was enough for me. Purchased from speedlogix, Took about 15 min, most of the time was jacking up the car and putting jacks stands in the correct place..., no lights on and I wont have to worry about 1st to 4th again!!

Out of curiosity were you driving the car easy when you had the skip happen? Three years I've had my SRT8 and only seen it once and I've tried to make it happen again without any luck.. I do tend to drive the car hard though.... Not sure what the parameters are to push the car into the skip.....

I am at CTC all the time and have friends in Powertrain Engineering, they said that there is an RPM/torque parameter that kicks in the 1st to 4th shift. I have the TREMEC 6 spd in my '12 RT and I cannot repeat this shift pattern everytime with the same RPM's and launch, this shift always happens at the most very unopportune times... Very annoying! Will definitely remove that shift pattern on this new one!!

I simply do not understand why this feature is even available in the first place. If we were so worried about saving gas we would not be choosing high powered muscle cars! If I ever get my cat I'll be installing one of these too. Guess the light bulb didn't turn on when they thought this through.

This. I had it on my 2012 Mustang GT and although it didn't happen often, it infuriated me when it did.

I'm gonna ask the dealer if it can be fixed due to the risk it poses. If it is simply there for gas mileage, I am fine with the 11.4 mpg I am up to!:D I haven't had it happen to me yet and don't want it to!

I completely agree. I had mine kick in on my Mustang as I was going across an intersection with oncoming traffic. I took off in 1st, and knew that I'd need a bit of power out of 2nd gear to make it across, not like I had to floor it, but I couldn't screw around... it went into 4th and I had to do a quick drop to 3rd. It wasn't a close call, but I find there to be a danger if the power isn't on tap when expected.

Cheap and easy fix for a "feature" that should have never been implemented, all in the name of saving a few ounces of gasoline.

I realize this thread is a little old but...

I have been thinking that my shifter isn't working correctly. I thought the skip shift was something that we could do if we wanted. I didn't
realize that it was a manual thing that forced the shift to forth. I agree. I hate it and it does happen at inappropriate times. I don't want to light
the tires up all the time to clear an intersection because my car is going into 4th instead of 2nd. WTF!
