Here is a section from my Allstate Insurance bill. allstate.jpg

Isn't that nice of them? They gave me a $994 discount ! If there were any more discounts they would be paying me. But never fear the bottom line still works out to about $1200 per year. So they will still get to make some money. I really do think it's a very good rate especially for Florida. It's just that the nearly $1,000 in "discounts" looked pretty funny.

What always gets me is the discounts for early and paid in full. It's basically like the banks with their minimum account balances. Basically a tax on the people who can afford it the least.

    Can't pay in full? Extra
    Didn't pay way early? Extra
    Driving older car? Extra

    Low account balance? Monthly fees

Sorry, just something that erks me when I pay in full each time?

I have the insurance under my dads name here in ND. We get away with it because we put him on the registration and he drives it once in a while. Never had a ticket and he's going on 63. We pay $46 a month. However im 32 and in my younger years i may have collected a few tickets. No accidents ever, but exhibition driving. Reckless driving haha u name it i got it lol. It would cost me $150 a month under just my name. I think ill keep it under my dad's insurance for a little longer.

The way I see it, rip off. They give you all these discounts but they still charge $1,200, right?
I pay 700 or so and I only get one discount

Well, when I came to America (2002) I was paying $200 dollars a month for a Ford Focus 2000. Can you believe that?
Now I pay $2,200 dollars a year for a Hellcat, SRT8 and 2 other cars.

I think I'm at the other end of the spectrum. Since I just got my VIN, I also just got my insurance quote, $1300. p/yr for full coverage. That was a $40. increase over the rate on my 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland.
