Thanks, what about some 1/4 time slips demonstrating that the increase in CFM translates to more HP that is measurable at the track.

Thanks Mike you answered my questions in PM, OK to run in rain, louder SC whine & exhaust noise. Just waiting on HP gains, even if it's a few HP. Quick question does this increase any potential engine issues in the long term?

no extra flow would not affect your engine long term

I don't feel like a complete sucker with buying the aFe... It flows a little better than stock. (I'm running the dry filter)

So far the forum members have not had measurable success with the AFE and B5 did had a slight improvement with the bwoody (just read the thread) .02 seconds faster, as I recall. Looking forward to seeing the results of goingsolo. I love to install a an aftermarket intake to pick up some extra HP that yields a measurable performance gain on a stock engine.

I have the BWOODY intake, shield and rain sock on my 15 Charger. So far so good. Whine...YES IT'S LOUD AS HELL!!! The SOP meter definitely shows some improvement. Hell just the extra loud whine is worth it!!!! GREAT job Mike. Thanks.

So it looks like every option has the potential to make more power over the stock filter, including the AFE and especially the BWoody.

We also know that tests done so far with stock motors show that it isn't asking for much more air beyond what the factory filter provides. Mike has previously posted estimated required flow to keep our engines making the power they should be making, and those calculated numbers are very close to what the factory filter flows in this test.

These flow results reaffirm the conclusions we are already coming to... Get an aftermarket intake for increased potential to make power but don't expect much out of it if you don't do anything else to your motor. Reality check.

Very useful information. Thank you for taking the time to show an apples to apples comparison.

I will have the car on the dyno Wednesday for tuning from Hemituner. Assuming all goes well on dyno, I should have some numbers to post up in terms of gains through tuning. The only other modification I have is my company's catback exhaust. Last time I was on the dyno, I had some detonation from a bad tank of gas. I have kept it consistent since then using 93 at the same Mobil station, so hopefully that knock goes away.

HEre is what is disturbing; most claim to see a rough +/-10 hp increase on the dyno and at the track stock air intake, with no airfilter (1244 with vs 1490 without).

This tells us that there IS SOME improvement to be made; what is not so clear, is why the AFE, with the paper filter at 1455 CFM makes no power, as well as with the oiled element-not even 10 HP!!

FWIW, if the paper elemented AFE made 10 more honest RWHP and filtered well-I WOULD have kept it.
