Is this a crack or possibly from manufacturing?

Doing oil change I notice what looks like a crack right where the drain plug is and a bit of oil saturation on the rack and pinion. No seepage from crack. Belly pan is 100% clean. I think oil is maybe residual from last oil change. Just curious if others have this defect.

I have the same crack on mine, I would agree with PlumCrazyHellCat that it probably a casting crack, the oil pan is all aluminum. I have the same Dimplex magnetic drain plug too.

You mentioned oil saturation, is it seeping out of the crack? I mentioned to the dealer about the crack, I 'll take it in the spring to show them and see what we should do about it and at least have it and record.

Great just changed oil and I don't seem to remember mine like that. I'm going to be a mess come spring time.

Not seeping out of the crack. May be a bit of residual from last oil change if I didn't get 100% of it cleaned. Belly pan was 100% spotless. I'm not too worried about it but wanted to know if others were the same. I will take to dealer in spring just so it is documented

Thank you I thought you meant it was seeping from the crack. Now i'll be able to sleep again.

Here's my crack. I don't like the look of it, casting crack or not it looks like it will start leaking at any time. upload_2017-1-10_18-8-38.png
