The K&N 69-2550TTK Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Dodge Challenger/Charger SRT Hellcat models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. In addition to more power, this air intake system improves engine sound with more aggressive and deeper acoustics during acceleration. The 69-2550TTK air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the original air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive black powder-coated finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor and crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver, ratchet set and several wrenches.

    • Guaranteed to increase horsepower
    • Designed to improve throttle response and engine sound
    • Free-flowing aluminum tube
    • Easy to install, usually in 90 minutes or less
    • Filter lasts up to 100,000 miles before service is required
    • Replaces entire factory air intake system
    • Washable and reusable lifetime air filter
    • K&N Million Mile Limited Warrantyj

is water from the heat extractor an issue? how about front air hole? does it block heat from leaving thru extractor? what size micron of dirt does it filter down to?

The front of the air box is open to allow air to come in through the front opening

In terms of filtration here is what K&N says on that
What is the micron rating and efficiency of a K&N air filter?
Air filters are not measured by micron size. As an industry standard, air filters are tested in accordance with the ISO 5011 test protocol to measure capacity (the physical amount of dust a filter can hold before cleaning is necessary) and efficiency (the filter's ability to trap and hold dust). See technical service bulletin 89-5R from the Filter Manufacturer's Council. The dust selected for the test contains a specified distribution of different particle sizes according to ISO standards.

Our testing has demonstrated that on average, K&N replacement air filters and air intake systems have a cumulative or Full Life filtration efficiency of between 96 and 99%. Different filters test at different efficiencies due to changes in their shape, surface area and relationship to the direction of air flow through the factory air box or test housing. Like most air filters available in the USA, our filters will provide all the engine protection you need.

For more information on our testing, see our K&N Product Testing page.

I do believe K&N is stating a 38 HP increase, more than AFE and none of the forum members have been able to duplicate the claimed increase from AFE. Is there a guaranteed increase from K&N?

Still didn't see any info on potentially blocking the heat extractor hole.
Wig that rubber seal I wouldn't be surprised that ot did.
Nice for the intake. Bad for the engine I would think?

I saw those numbers as well, and they do seem high, however did not post them, as unless we have first hand knowledge of gains we don't want to make sales based on gains we have not verified.

Interesting, what code did it throw, did you contact K&N or the vendor you purchased it from?

I would think K&N would assist with something like that and certainly the vendor you purchased from should accept it back for a full refund. Sorry to hear your experience and hope it was a fluke. I guess I need to put one on my Hellcat and see what the deal with it is. I prefer a covered filter though as my Charger leaks a lot of water through that hood vent.
