My wife also owns a 2015 Charger and usually if we are doing weekend shopping etc, I drive her car. Sometimes I let her off at a store entrance, and if I don't have the key fob to her car I will get "Key Fob Has Left the Vehicle". I immediately find the nearest parking spot. Thus far, apart from the beeping, it has not been a problem.

How far will the car run without the key fob?

I did not think the car would shut off if the key fob is removed from the vehicle. Mine has not and I have gone inside the house with it.

It will run until you shut it off. Then it won't restart. I learned this by dropping her off at grocery store in her car. Keys in her purse and driving 1/4 mile to Lowe's. When I came out. Nothing.

I think the fob concept is flawed.

Safety? I wish they would make the key fob system have a security aspect.

If someone car jacks me; pulling out of the car, they get 100 yards down the road and the car cuts off, or at least the transmission disengages. Something to put a grin on my face in a bad situation

You cannot have a vehicle shut down "in flight" just because it loses (wireless!) contact with a fob. Weak fob battery, interference from any number of electronic devices, etc. Just too big a safety risk.

I give in on the safety concerns, but there is absolutely no reason there can't be some consequence to losing contact with the key fob, e.g., valet mode, limp mode, etc. I want my Hellcat to be a pain in the ass for the thief.

I'll pay extra for a security feature like that

Gps tracking/monitoring system is great feature which my dealer threw in for free with my Ram. You can track the whereabouts and current location. You get an app installed on your phone to remotely access the gps.

Not quite what you were asking for but another alternative which could be considered.

You could hit the ignition button while getting out....

I think they should just have a transmisssion lockout when u get out if its in park or stopped. If you have left the vehicle while its in gear there may be bigger problems lol. This way a thief cant jump in it and move the shifter

If you drive somewhere, stop and put it in park, but leave it running and then exit with the fob it can still be shifted into drive and driven off.
I had a friend drop me at the airport and drive off afterwards without the fob.
He drove the 20 some odd miles home without the fob with no issues.
Best thing was he got pulled over doing 70 and had to explain to the offcer why he couldn't shut off the car!

Could you hit the remote start/stop on the fob as the thief is trying to drive away?

Florida Highway Patrol has Chargers and I cannot tell you how many times I left my cruiser running (doors locked) thinking it would not shift out of park if someone got a crazy hair and smashed my windows to steal it. I was sick to my stomach when my trooper buddy got in and put it in drive (after verbally abusing me for leaving it running in a bad part of town). So after he puts it in drive I think I must be standing to close so i tell him drive off, and he he did...what a design flaw! Isnt it? Maybe I'm off on this one, but what is the point?
