Well, I know of about $19,000,000+ in potential Challeger/Charger Hellcat profits waiting to be built.

How long would an overhaul take or does it happen concurrently?

No Question the plant needs a ton of upgrades. I would have thought the declining Canadian peso would have given the plant a bigger boost. As for provincial funding, I'm not sure those monkeys at Queens Park have a clue?... Probably stand a better chance at the federal level as this is an election year & who wants to see plant closures on their watch?...

I got a feeling it will stay a float in the short term with government funding & concessions from the C.A.W. Over the long haul cheaper production costs will kill us all!

I'll be the Walmart greeter at the entrance...

A recent overhaul in Windsor for the next minivan took 14 weeks of downtime and no van production

its prolly more about bean counting ... many places-states will offer 5 or 10 year tax free incentives to move in... prolly more write-offs too in building new with yearly depreciation etc.

Then most of us could not afford the car. The price would sky rocket.

19 million is chump change in comparison for what they need to spend..

"An overhaul is likely to cost at least $1 billion."

No trying to be too much of a downer on B.B., Mike or the cousin that works there; but if they did close it, it would probably be after the planned production run of the current models they build there. G.M. in Oshawa has similar plans if they don't get what they want. N.A.F.T.A. has given great powers to the corps to be able to pick up and move on the drop of a hat. The name of the game is profit & no one is secure in this day & age...

If they did move the plant, they still may build the three models currently in Brampton, but imo, a newer model style. Re-tooling a new plant with the current styles, makes no sense. In the event of a closure, that property that the plant sits on will be ripe for the picking for land developers. Excessive clean up costs on the site would be the only way it sits idle.

Hopefully the plant stays open & I suspect it will, for at least a few more years. Long term? It's hard to say. More & more stuff going to Mexico & off shore to produce. Hell look at where your pickles and can tuna come from. Cheap wages, lowered health & safety concerns for employees = a cheaper to produce product that never gets any cheaper than yesterday at retail. Unions end up taking the bulk of the blame, but when you have banks & auto manufactures all looking for government handouts on top of the tax breaks, it tells me that the system is broken...:(

With potential incentives to relocate and able to start with a clean slate allowing them to utilize the most up to date equipment and technology might make more economical sense to relocate rather than upgrade the current facility.

That's where the fun starts: Who will throw more money at F.C.A.?.... Setting aside government incentives & union concessions (the main reason for any move). Would building a new plant from scratch and still being responsible for the environmental impact and/ or clean up of the old site still be profitable?...
