I have a little bit of a conundrum and while the answer may seem obvious, let me explain. I fully plan on getting a set of DRs for the car likely on a different set of wheels for 1/4 mile track use only. It seems evident the smart thing to do is get a new DS to avoid a tow truck ride home and potentially damaging the underside of the car. The thought comes up that if I upgrade the DS and I have an issue with the trans/rear, I could see a dealer voiding warranty of those items. While the trans and rear both seem to be holding up just fine, the fear still remains long term.

I have AAA plus so while it would suck to get a tow home, it's not the end of the world as long as the driver doesn't mess up the car in the process.

It's clear the stock DS is not ideal for use with DRs so one could make the argument that I fixed a "flaw" with the vehicle with an upgraded shaft.

    Let me know your thoughts.

With DR's and track usage I think it's smart to upgrade the shaft. A broken shaft could do a lot of damage. Take your chances if any warranty issues. Warranty issues should be limited to things that are directly related to the shaft.

Put a better shaft in and what's the next weakest link? Probably the axle shafts. The rear ends and transmissions seem to be holding up so far.

I'm waiting for AL DS. but I still haven't find out if putting 305 causing DR issue or anyone has broken DS with 275/40/20 or other small setting.

TC and Linda have been pounding on these cars hard and I think Linda lost 1 half axle. Everything seems to be holding up very well. I have my stock DS sitting in the garage if I need to swap it back just to keep any confusion out of the equation if something weird happens. I personally didn't want my DS breaking while going down the track, everyone says it will happen with the stock shaft, it is just a matter of when.

But so far, no vendor has done the safety loop yet.

If you have those concerns about breaking stuff and potentially voiding the warranty, then, don't track your car. You have to be willing to pay to play.

Obvious response is obvious but this car is advertised to be a tire burning, 10 sec with a DR vehicle with a warranty. I think most would agree the DS is a major weak link with the car and in my opinion, done on purpose to save the rear/trans even though those have held up so far. I have the same opinion about the 275s tires as well.

All that aside, I don't plan on tracking the car all that much so I can think of plenty of ways to use that $900. The shaft and damage due to it should be covered under warranty. It's a shame no one makes a DS safely loop yet.

I think a loop would be a great alternative whether the shaft was upgraded or not. I don't see anything offered for the Charger Hellcat but appears prior models pieces would fit but may not be as effective.

I'm going to upgrade but I've not seen concrete evidence

most of DS broken video or picture I've seen with 305 tires.

I will be using a different set of wheels (undecided at the moment) and probably a 305 MT tire.

I used slicks on my m6 and a8 and didnt break anything. Granted slicks wrinkle so they arent as harsh on the car as DRs
